Group and alias email addresses aren't supported for Wispr Flow accounts

Last updated: November 4, 2026

Available on: Mac, Windows, iOS, Android

A Wispr Flow account belongs to one person. Shared inboxes and aliases — team@, support@, billing@, admin@, distribution lists, or + aliases — can't be used to create or run an account. If several people need Flow, add each of them to a team.

Why one account per person

  • Dictation is personal. Your dictionary, snippets, writing styles, transcription history and voice profile are built from how you speak; a shared account mixes everyone together.

  • The email can never be changed. The address and sign-in method on an account can't be changed, transferred or merged later, by you or by support.

  • Sign-in needs a mailbox owner. Verification links, sign-in codes and password resets go to that address and expire quickly, so in a shared inbox the wrong person can consume a one-time link.

  • Seats are per person. Usage limits, plan status and team membership attach to a single account, so a group address can't give access to more than one person.

Warning: Some alias formats are rejected at sign-up. New accounts can't be created with a + alias, or with an address that has only numbers before the @. Accounts that already use a + alias can still sign in normally.

What to do instead

Create a team and invite people by their individual work addresses: each person gets their own sign-in, seat and dictionary, while billing and administration stay centralized.

  1. Sign up with your own named work address, not the group inbox.

  2. Open admin.wisprflow.ai and add your billing details.

  3. Invite each teammate by their individual email address.

  4. Add a second admin so the account never depends on one person.

On Growth and Enterprise you can also attach your email domains, turn on SAML SSO, and set up SCIM so members are added from your identity provider. See Configure SSO.

We want invoices to go to a shared AP inbox

The billing email on your subscription is separate from the account you sign in with, so invoices can go to a shared AP or finance inbox while the account stays with a named person. Contact support with the address you'd like invoices sent to. Changes apply to invoices issued from that point forward, not to invoices already sent.

Nobody on our team owns this account

Add two or more admins in the admin portal instead of using a shared login. Admins can manage seats, billing and SSO, and if one leaves, another admin can change roles and keep the account running.

We already created an account on a group address

The address can't be changed, so moving to an individual address means creating a new account and starting fresh: settings, dictionary entries, snippets, transcription history, referral credits and subscription status don't carry over. Cancel any active subscription on the old account before subscribing on the new one. See Email & Sign-In Method Change Requests for the full list of what's lost and the steps to switch.

Still need help?

Contact support if:

  • You need invoices redirected to a shared billing inbox.

  • You're moving an existing account off a group address and need the old subscription cancelled or refunded.

  • You want help with domains, SSO or SCIM when setting up a team.

Include your account email, your plan, and the addresses involved.
