Search your past meetings and shared notes in Notetaker
Last updated: August 19, 2026
Available on: Mac
Find any past meeting in Notetaker by title, notes, summary, or attendee name — across your own meetings and notes shared with you. Useful when you have a backlog of meetings and need one fast.
How to open search
From the Notetaker hub, press Cmd+F or /, or click the magnifying glass icon on the My Notes / Shared With Me tab bar. Search runs against whichever tab is active.
How it works in Flow
Key behaviors
What gets searched: Meeting titles, notes (the Thoughts tab), AI summaries, and attendee names, ranked by relevance. Transcripts are not included.
My Notes: Searches all your recorded meetings.
Shared With Me: Filters only the notes already loaded on your device.
Result rows: Show the meeting title, a snippet of matching content, attendees, and — for shared notes — a "shared by" label naming who shared it.
Ask Wispr from search
Selecting Ask Wispr about … in the Notetaker hub opens the Ask Wispr chat with your query as context, searching across all your meetings.
With a meeting open in the drawer, the chat is pinned to that meeting and draws on its transcript and notes without you specifying "this meeting." It looks at other meetings only when your question is clearly about a different meeting or date, or when the open meeting doesn't contain the answer — and it then says so up front and links to the source meeting. Short keyword messages typed in the meeting drawer search that meeting's transcript instead of being treated as questions.
Warnings you may see
Shared notes aren't being searched
Searching shared notes requires Cloud Sync. If Cloud Sync is off and you're part of an organization or on a HIPAA plan, a warning appears and only your own meetings are searched. Enable Cloud Sync in Notetaker settings to include shared notes.
Some older meetings aren't showing up
Older meetings may not be indexed for search yet. They become searchable as indexing catches up.
Results are capped
Search returns a maximum number of results per query. Add more specific keywords, or use the attendee or date filters to narrow results.
Invalid search warning
Your query can't be processed — for example, it's empty or contains unsupported characters. Revise the search and try again.
Unsupported date range
The selected date filter can't be applied to your current search. Switch to a different date range, such as Any time.
FAQs
Can I search notes that were shared with me?
Yes. Switch to the Shared With Me tab and search there. This requires Cloud Sync — see Limitations and notes.
A meeting I know exists isn't appearing in results — why?
Older meetings may not be indexed yet. Refine your query or adjust the date and attendee filters to surface it sooner.
Can Ask Wispr use search to answer questions about past meetings?
Yes. From the Notetaker hub it searches across all your meetings to find the most relevant one before answering. With a meeting open in the drawer, it focuses on that meeting first.
Limitations and notes
Meeting search is available on macOS only. Notetaker is not currently supported on Windows.
Transcript content is not searched — only titles, notes, summaries, and attendee names.
Searching shared notes requires Cloud Sync, including for users on a HIPAA plan or in an organization. With Cloud Sync off, you can still record and use Notetaker.
Older meetings may take time to become searchable as indexing catches up.
Search results are capped — use filters to narrow results if you can't find a specific meeting.
