Snooze the Dictation Bubble

Need the Flow Bubble out of the way for a screenshot, video, or reading? Snooze temporarily hides it so you can use the screen without the bubble covering content.

Snooze the bubble

Snooze is available only when the bubble is idle in a text field. Finish or cancel any dictation and wait for processing to finish first. Flow's microphone is not active when you snooze.

  1. Tap a text field to show the Flow Bubble.

  2. Drag the Flow Bubble slowly toward the bottom-center of the screen until the snooze target appears.

  3. Release over the target; a confirmation vibration signals that the bubble is close enough to snooze.

A quick flick won't show the target. To cancel, move away from the target before releasing; the bubble returns to the nearest screen edge.

The bubble disappears, and a message confirms: "Wispr Flow is snoozed for 10 min.
Shake your phone to bring it back."

While snoozed, tapping a text field or typing does not reveal the bubble.

Bring the bubble back

Snooze duration is fixed at 10 minutes and cannot be customized. It ends automatically, or you can end it early using either method below.

When snooze ends by timer, shake, or End snooze now, the bubble returns to its default right-edge position, not where you left it.

Shake your phone

Note: Shake works only while snoozed. On a locked phone, shaking does nothing and shows no message. In restricted banking or financial apps, it leaves snooze active and shows "Flow Bubble is disabled inside banking apps."

  1. Unlock your phone.

  2. Tap a text field outside a restricted banking or financial app.

  3. Shake firmly twice within 1.2 seconds, in any direction.

A single light shake or two shakes farther apart won't work. A vibration and "Wispr Flow is back!" confirm that snooze ended; the bubble returns immediately if a text field is already open.

Flow checks motion sensors only while snoozed. Shake detection resumes automatically if accessibility reconnects while snooze remains active.

End snooze in the app

  1. Open Wispr Flow.

  2. Tap End snooze now on the home screen's Bubble is snoozed card.

  3. Tap a text field to reveal the bubble; this method does not reveal it immediately.

The card appears only during snooze. When Flow is running, tapping the button shows the confirmation toast "Flow Bubble is back and will appear next time you are in a text box." If Flow's background service isn't running, no confirmation appears; use the Flow Bubble Disabled instructions below.

If snooze is unavailable

Accessibility problems hide the snooze target. If accessibility needs attention during a drag, Flow refuses snooze with "Snooze is unavailable while accessibility needs attention." If this happens during an active snooze, snooze ends so the repair prompt stays visible.

Flow can't insert text

The "Wispr Flow needs attention" notification opens Flow's in-app accessibility-repair screen. Without notification permission, Flow instead shows "Re-enable accessibility for Wispr Flow to keep working."

  1. Open Wispr Flow.

  2. Tap Go to Settings on the Flow can't insert text card.

  3. Re-enable accessibility permission for Wispr Flow.

Once the bubble is idle in a text field again, retry the snooze steps.

Flow isn't responding

If accessibility permission is still on and this card or notification appears, restart Flow rather than re-granting permission. Without notification permission, Flow instead shows "Wispr Flow isn't responding. Open the app to restart it."

  1. Open Wispr Flow, or tap the notification reading "Tap to restart Wispr Flow."

  2. Tap Restart Flow on the Flow isn't responding card.

Retry snooze once the bubble is idle in a text field. "Flow Bubble reconnected." appears only after a visible repair bubble; on a first connection, it also requires recovery following a startup or post-update connection delay.

Flow Bubble is reconnecting

If Flow reports "Flow Bubble is reconnecting. Dictation paused.", wait for it to reconnect before snoozing. Snooze remains unavailable during reconnection.

Flow Bubble Disabled

This home-screen card appears when all permissions are granted but Flow's background service is stopped.

  1. Tap Turn Back On on the Flow Bubble Disabled card to restart it.

  2. Tap a text field to check that the bubble returns.

The permission and unresponsive recovery notifications replace each other rather than stacking.

FAQs

Is snooze the same as shrink?

No: snooze hides the bubble entirely, while shrink leaves a small icon or dot on screen. Tapping or long-pressing a shrunken bubble restores its full size and starts dictation. Offline, it briefly expands, shows an offline message, and shrinks again after about five seconds.

What happens if Flow restarts or I force-stop it?

Restarting Flow's background service clears an active snooze, removes the snoozed card, and restores normal bubble behavior. Snooze does not survive a force-stop. After a force-stop, Android blocks automatic restart — the bubble only returns the next time you open the Wispr Flow app.

What if my dictation reaches the session limit?

Android dictation supports up to five minutes per session. Reaching the cap ends the recording without discarding it: Flow transcribes and inserts the audio recorded so far.
