Snooze the Dictation Bubble
Available on: Android
Need the Flow Bubble out of the way for a screenshot, a video, or a focused task? Drag it to the bottom of the screen to snooze it for 10 minutes. Shake your phone or tap End snooze now in the app to bring it back early.
What it is
Snooze is a quick way to temporarily hide the Flow Bubble on Android without turning Wispr Flow off. Drag the bubble into the snooze zone at the bottom of the screen and it disappears for 10 minutes, then comes back on its own. It's designed for moments when the bubble would get in the way — screenshots, full-screen video, or a focused task.
When to use it
Use snooze when you want to:
Clear screen space for reading or watching content.
Take screenshots without the bubble appearing.
Avoid accidental taps during gaming or other full-screen activities.
How it works in Flow
Overview
Drag the Flow Bubble into the snooze zone at the bottom of the screen to hide it for 10 minutes. End snooze early by shaking your phone or tapping End snooze now in the app.
Key behaviors
Snoozing the bubble: Drag the Flow Bubble toward the bottom of the screen and release it into the snooze zone. A toast confirms: "Wispr Flow is snoozed for 10 min. Shake your phone to bring it back."
Visual feedback while dragging: A dark gradient fades in across the bottom of the screen, and the snooze target expands, darkens, and pulls toward the bubble with haptic feedback as you get close.
Snooze zone only appears when idle: Finish any active recording or processing before snoozing. The zone is also disabled if the bubble is prompting you to re-grant accessibility permission.
Active dictation stops on snooze: Hiding the bubble immediately stops dictation and releases the microphone. The mic does not continue recording in the background.
Snooze persists when the keyboard opens: Opening the on-screen keyboard while snoozed will not bring the bubble back. The bubble stays hidden until snooze ends or you end it manually.
Shake to un-snooze: While snoozed, unlock your phone, tap into a text box, and shake firmly back and forth a couple of times. The bubble reappears with haptic feedback and a confirmation toast.
End snooze from the app: Open Wispr Flow and tap End snooze now on the home screen. The bubble reappears the next time you tap into a text field.
Repair prompt is suppressed during snooze: The accessibility repair prompt will not appear while the bubble is snoozed. It surfaces again once snooze ends.
Best practices
Finish any active dictation before dragging the bubble — snoozing cuts the recording off.
Use snooze for short interruptions like screenshots or a quick video. For longer breaks, turn off the Flow Bubble service instead.
Shake firmly back and forth a couple of times — a single light shake won't trigger un-snooze.
Examples
Snoozing before taking a screenshot
What you do: Drag the Flow Bubble to the bottom of the screen and release it into the snooze zone.
What happens: The bubble disappears and a confirmation toast appears. Take your screenshot on a clean screen, then shake your phone to bring the bubble back.
Bringing the bubble back early with shake
What you do: While Flow is snoozed and you're inside a text box, unlock your phone and shake it firmly back and forth a couple of times.
What happens: The bubble reappears with haptic feedback and a confirmation toast: "Flow Bubble is back and will appear next time you are in a text box."
Common issues
Bugs fixed in recent updates
Several snooze issues were resolved in recent versions. Update Wispr Flow to the latest version to get these fixes:
Shake to un-snooze did nothing: Shaking the phone while snoozed had no effect. Shake now correctly ends snooze.
Bubble stayed hidden after shake with the keyboard open: The bubble could remain hidden if the on-screen keyboard was still open and you hadn't tapped into a different text field. The bubble now reappears on the active text field without requiring extra taps.
Bubble reappeared when the keyboard opened while snoozed: Opening the on-screen keyboard could cause the snoozed bubble to reappear unexpectedly. Snooze now correctly persists when the keyboard opens.
"Flow is snoozed" card stuck on the home screen: After a force-stop or service restart, the snooze card on the app's home screen could remain visible even though snooze was no longer active. The card now clears itself correctly.
Snooze broke after a force-stop: Force-stopping the app could cause snooze to behave unexpectedly after relaunch. Snooze now recovers correctly after a force-stop.
Accessibility repair warning dismissed by shake or focus gestures: Shaking the phone or tapping into a text field while the repair warning was showing could accidentally dismiss it. These gestures no longer affect the repair warning.
Accessibility repair prompt appeared during snooze: The repair prompt could interrupt an active snooze session. It is now suppressed while the bubble is snoozed and surfaces after snooze ends.
FAQs
What happens after 10 minutes?
The bubble automatically comes back and Wispr Flow works normally. No action needed.
Can I change the snooze duration?
Not currently. Snooze is fixed at 10 minutes, but you can end it early by shaking your phone or tapping End snooze now in the app.
Why doesn't shake work sometimes?
Shake only exits snooze mode. Make sure Flow is snoozed, your phone is unlocked, and you're inside a text box — then shake firmly back and forth a couple of times. A single light shake won't trigger it.
After tapping "End snooze now," when does the bubble reappear?
The bubble reappears the next time you tap into a text field — not immediately.
Does the microphone stay on after I snooze the bubble?
No. Hiding the bubble always stops any active dictation and releases the microphone completely.
Why can't I snooze the bubble?
If you see "Snooze is unavailable while accessibility needs attention," the Flow Bubble is waiting for you to re-grant the accessibility permission. Open your device's Settings, find Wispr Flow under Accessibility, and turn it on. Snooze is available again once the permission is restored.
The bubble is missing but I didn't snooze it — what happened?
If the bubble disappeared on its own, check the following:
Flow Bubble service turned off: Open Wispr Flow — if you see a "Flow Bubble Disabled" card on the home screen, tap Turn Back On.
Shrink feature active: The bubble may have shrunk to a small icon or dot. Tap or long-press it to restore full size, or adjust Settings → Bubble Size.
Low opacity: The bubble may be visible but hard to see. Open settings and tap Reset next to Flow Bubble Opacity to restore the default 80%.
Limitations and notes
Snooze duration is fixed at 10 minutes and cannot be customized.
Snooze is unavailable while the Flow Bubble is prompting you to re-grant accessibility permission. Restore the permission to re-enable snooze.
Shake to un-snooze requires your phone to be unlocked and only works while the bubble is snoozed. The motion sensor is not polled continuously in the background.
The bubble resets to its default position on the right side of the screen after snooze ends.
Snooze does not survive a force-stop. If Wispr Flow is force-killed, the bubble reappears when the app starts again.
Snooze is different from shrink. Snooze fully hides the bubble for 10 minutes; shrink reduces it to a small icon or dot while keeping it visible and active. Configure shrink in Settings → Bubble Size.
