Auto Cleanup controls how much Flow edits your dictation after you speak — from the raw transcript to a lightly cleaned or reworded version. Your chosen level applies to every dictation, across apps.

Auto Cleanup levels

Note: If you previously chose High, the picker now displays Medium; High is no longer selectable.

How to change your level

  1. Open the Flow hub.

  2. Go to Style → Auto Cleanup (marked Beta).

  3. Click the card for None, Light, or Medium, using the examples to compare results.

The new level applies to your next dictation — no restart needed.

Recover your original dictation

Your original dictation is never lost.

  1. Open the Home tab in the Flow hub.

  2. Click the three-dot menu next to a recent dictation.

  3. Click “Undo AI edit” to restore the pre-cleanup text.

Standard undo (Cmd+Z on Mac, Ctrl+Z on Windows) reverts the pasted text immediately after dictation.

FAQs

Why is my text pasting unformatted?

Check two settings: Auto Cleanup set to None, and a default transcription format of “No AI formatting.” Command-mode dictations and dictations into apps Flow recognizes as AI apps skip formatting by design, and Flow returns the raw transcript when formatting fails.

Does Auto Cleanup set to None affect my Voice Profile?

No. Dictations saved as raw transcripts — including those with AI formatting off and command-mode dictations — count toward the 2,000 words needed to unlock Voice Profile, and Flow uses them when building your profile.
