Import past meetings from Granola or Otter

Last updated: October 13, 2026

Available on: Mac and Windows desktop app. Sign in to your Wispr Flow account before importing.

Bring past Granola or Otter meetings into Notetaker using exported notes, summaries, and transcripts. This workflow uses export files rather than an account connection.

Request your export

Granola

  1. Open Granola's Settings → Profile → Generate CSV.

  2. Download the emailed .csv or .zip; delivery may take a few hours.

Keep the file at 50 MB or less and 5,000 rows or fewer (skipped rows count; the header does not).

If you resave the CSV, keep it in UTF-8 encoding and leave its original columns in place.

Otter

  1. Open My Notes in Otter.

  2. Scroll until every conversation you want has loaded; unloaded conversations are excluded.

  3. Follow Otter's bulk-export instructions to export as TXT with speaker names and timestamps.

  4. Download the emailed ZIP when it arrives, or use its unzipped folder.

Limits: 50 MB zipped and 200 MB unpacked, covering roughly 4,096 conversations. Each transcript may be up to 8 MB.

The file picker accepts ZIPs only; drag an unzipped folder in instead of browsing for it.

Returning after your export arrives

After you view export instructions, Flow can show Finish uploading from Granola or Finish uploading from Otter with an Upload button for up to 30 days; Granola appears first if both are waiting.

Completing an import clears the reminder for that account on that device only.

Import into Flow

Warning: Imports sync to Wispr even if Dictation cloud storage — on by default — or your organization's Cloud Sync is off. A signed personal or organizational HIPAA BAA blocks syncing. Successful uploads also leave transcripts on your device.

Note: Only one import runs at a time, including background transcripts; finish or cancel it first.

  1. Open Flow's Settings → Notetaker, or the Import your meeting notes banner at the top of the Notetaker page.

  2. Click Import.

  3. Choose Granola or Otter.

  4. Drop your export into the upload area, or click to browse for a file.

  5. Keep Flow open until Upload complete! appears. Closing the import window alone does not stop processing.

Meetings appear before transcripts finish adding, and Settings → Notetaker shows progress and remaining transcripts. The last-import date appears only after both phases finish, and no new Import button appears during background processing.

The Notetaker page shows one banner at a time, so another setup banner can replace the import banner. Settings → Notetaker always remains available.

What is imported

  • Dates and titles: Granola keeps original dates; Otter uses the summary's date, otherwise the import time. Missing Otter titles fall back to the transcript filename, then Untitled note, which untitled Granola meetings also use.

  • Summaries and notes: Summaries appear under Summary (Granola AI) or Summary (Otter AI), with Granola notes separate. If an Otter conversation's summary is not included in the export, its transcript imports with no summary. A summary alone creates no meeting, and a very large summary is omitted while its transcript still imports.

  • Transcripts: Otter keeps recognizable speaker names and exported timestamps. TXT without recognizable headers imports as unlabeled text without original timings, as Granola transcripts do. The transcript tab stays pending until background work finishes, then shows a source-specific unavailable state if no transcript is available.

  • Text only: Imports contain no meeting audio, playback, calendar link, or attendee list, and Flow does not re-process them.

Cancel or resume an import

Warning: Signing out stops active imports, including background work, and a selected file cannot carry over to another account. Re-importing restores meetings you deleted on your device.

  1. Click Cancel in Settings → Notetaker or the Notetaker import banner.

  2. Confirm with Yes, cancel; Go back keeps the import running. Background cancellation shows Stopping background transcript imports….

  3. Click Import again in Settings or the banner when you're ready to finish.

  4. Re-drop the export. Already-imported meetings stay, and a fresh Granola CSV is also safe.

Re-importing the same export avoids duplicates and preserves existing transcripts. Meetings that already have notes or a summary keep their existing notes, summary, title, and date. Renaming in Otter creates a separate meeting on re-export; renaming in Granola does not.

After quitting Flow

For either source, background transcripts resume once you reopen Flow, sign in, and finish any active dictation.

  1. Reopen Flow.

  2. Re-drop the same export if meetings had not finished importing before you quit.

Import paused

Import paused. It will resume automatically. follows an interrupted upload, a shutdown, or a connection or service problem. Flow retries on its own for a while before stopping. Background transcripts can show their own paused message for Granola or Otter.

  1. Click Try again if automatic retries stop.

  2. Re-drop the export in the reopened import window.

Finish import or Granola import was disrupted

Settings can show Finish import with 1 step incomplete when background work cannot continue on its own. A Granola import was disrupted banner needs the same action instead of resuming automatically.

  1. Click Finish import.

  2. Upload your export in the reopened import window.

Fix an import error

For either source, select your export again if the import did not start before you signed out or restarted Flow.

Problem

What to do

Wrong, empty, or unreadable export

Re-download the Granola CSV/ZIP or re-export Otter as TXT.

Granola columns do not match, or the ZIP has no CSV inside

Choose the original .zip or .csv from your Granola email.

Size or volume limit exceeded

For Otter, export fewer conversations at a time; Granola files must meet the limits above.

Upload timed out or expired

Re-select the export; the pending selection expired, not your connection.

Sign-in required

Sign back in, then re-drop the export.

Import failed with no meetings added

Try the same export again.

After each remedy, repeat the import steps and check Notetaker for the expected meetings and the skipped count. Flow imports the remaining meetings and reports how many were skipped, on the completion screen and as imported-versus-total counts in Notetaker.

  • Granola: Rows that are incomplete, carry an invalid date, or hold oversized content are skipped. Meetings captured by a teammate are excluded.

  • Otter: Empty, unreadable, or oversized transcripts are skipped.

A meeting can import even when its transcript cannot be saved; that missing transcript is not counted as a skipped meeting.
