Banking App Detection Support in Wispr Flow
Last updated: May 7, 2026
Available on: Android
Worried Flow might pick up sensitive info while you're banking? Flow automatically hides itself when you open a supported banking or financial app, so your account details stay private. Once Flow's Accessibility Service is enabled, banking detection works automatically — no setup required.
What it is
Banking App Detection is a built-in privacy feature that recognizes 136 financial app packages across 9 regions. When you open a supported banking app, Flow hides the Flow Bubble and disables all activation methods until you switch to a different app.
How it works in Flow
Overview
Banking detection runs automatically. Flow monitors which app is in the foreground and hides itself when it detects a supported financial app.
Key behaviors
Automatic detection: When you open a supported banking or financial app, Flow hides the Flow Bubble.
Complete protection: While a banking app is open, the Flow Bubble stays hidden and Flow does not read text from focused fields or surrounding screen elements.
All reveal paths blocked: Focus events and typing detection do not bring the bubble back while a banking app is active. Shake gestures still cancel any active snooze, but the bubble remains hidden until you leave the banking app.
Silent operation: No notification or indicator is shown. The bubble simply disappears and reappears when you leave the banking app.
Automatic resume: When you switch to another app and tap into a text field that brings up the keyboard, the Flow Bubble reappears and voice input is available again.
Warning: If you switch to a banking app during an active dictation, the transcribed text will not be inserted into any field. Instead, it is copied to your clipboard so you can paste it manually. Finish your dictation before opening a banking app.

FAQs
Does banking detection work for all financial apps?
Detection covers 136 financial app packages across 9 regions. Apps not on the supported list won't trigger the hide behavior, and coverage expands with each release.
Can I turn banking detection off?
No. Banking detection is a privacy safeguard that runs automatically. There is no option to disable it.
My banking app isn't detected. What should I do?
Make sure you're on the latest version of Flow. If your app still isn't detected, contact support with the app name and your region so it can be considered for a future update.
Does Flow hide for sensitive fields outside of banking apps?
Yes. Flow also hides the bubble for password, PIN, and numeric-only input fields in any app.
Can I dictate into browser address bars and notification replies?
Yes. The Flow Bubble appears in the address bar of supported browsers — including Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave, Samsung Internet, Opera, Vivaldi, DuckDuckGo, Kiwi, UC Browser, Yandex, and Chromium builds — and in notification reply boxes, so you can dictate URLs, searches, or quick replies without opening the full app. Notification reply support works across major Android OEMs (including Samsung, Xiaomi, OPPO, OnePlus, Vivo, and Asus) and applies to any app's inline reply, not just WhatsApp.
Is banking detection available on other platforms?
Banking app detection is Android-only. On iOS, certain keyboard types — numeric keypads (including phone pad, decimal pad, numbers-and-punctuation, and ASCII number pad) and email-address fields — automatically switch away from the Flow Keyboard to protect sensitive input, but this is not banking-app-specific detection.
Limitations and notes
This feature is available on Android only.
Banking detection cannot be disabled — it is always on for your privacy.
Detection is based on a predefined list of known banking app package names. Apps not on this list will not trigger the hide behavior.
Some financial institutions are represented by multiple entries (for example, separate personal and business apps), so the 136 package entries cover fewer than 136 distinct banks.
Password, PIN, numeric-only, and phone number fields are excluded from Flow in most apps. Two exceptions: browser address bars and system notification reply boxes — Flow still appears in these surfaces even when the field type would otherwise be excluded.
