Switching to Wispr Flow: Keep All Your Notetakers in One Place (MCP)

Last updated: October 7, 2026

Available on: Mac, Windows

Moving from Granola, Otter, or Fireflies? Connect Wispr Flow alongside your old notetaker so one chat searches new and old meetings.

Before you connect

  • Notetaker: it must be enabled for your account. If Notetaker is blocked, your organization disables MCP access, or MCP is unavailable for your account, the MCP page and sidebar entry are hidden without a prompt. Only an admin can re-enable Notetaker for an organization.

  • Account: sign in to the account holding your notes. Personal and work accounts are separate and return different results.

  • Sign-in method: email-and-password accounts cannot complete connector authorization. Use Google, Apple, Microsoft, or enterprise SSO sign-in.

  • AI tool plan: custom connectors require a paid plan on your AI tool. Wispr Flow needs no API keys, client IDs, or scopes.

Important: authorization gives the AI tool read access to every meeting on your account, including past meetings, subject to the access restrictions below. There is no per-meeting or time-range control and no per-session approval prompt.

What the connected AI tool can read

The connector cannot access dictation history. It can read meeting notes, summaries, pre-read briefs, requested transcripts, action items, Scratchpad notes, Google and Microsoft calendar events—including descriptions, conference links, and attendees—participants and their email addresses, notes shared to you by link, and your account and display-name information.

A shared link can provide a summary without its transcript. Transcript access requires that you own the note or were explicitly invited by email, and that the owner's organization allows transcript sharing; otherwise the AI receives an explanation.

For enterprise users, note and transcript reads through the connector are recorded in audit logs.

Step 1: Connect Wispr Flow

  1. Open Wispr Flow → Settings → MCP.

  2. Click Add to Claude, Add to ChatGPT, Add to Gemini, or Add to Cursor. Each button opens that tool's setup page in your default browser.

  3. Approve access on the browser consent screen, then return to Flow to refresh the cards.

  4. Ask the AI about a meeting on your account to confirm it worked.

Tip: you can also open MCP settings from the floating notepad — click the ⋯ menu and choose Connect to your AI tools. This item appears until your account has connected an AI tool.

For manual setup, click the Server URL field or copy icon under All other apps: https://api.wisprflow.ai/connect/mcp. Paste it without a trailing slash; adding one prevents sign-in from starting.

Claude: manual setup

Use the Server URL for custom-connector setup.

  1. Go to Settings → Connectors in Claude.

  2. Click the + button, then Add custom connector.

  3. Paste the Server URL, then click Add.

  4. Click Connect and sign in to Wispr Flow.

ChatGPT, Gemini, and Cursor

Add Wispr Flow to ChatGPT, then sign in when prompted. OpenAI clients, including Codex, appear on the ChatGPT card.

Gemini opens Gemini apps; Cursor opens the Wispr Flow listing in the Cursor marketplace. Sign in to Wispr Flow when prompted.

Other MCP-compatible tools

Use your AI tool's custom or remote connector option.

  1. Add a remote MCP server using the Server URL from All other apps.

  2. Complete the browser sign-in.

A previously connected card shows ⋯ → Reconnect instead of Add to…; use this if a connection fails. The card reflects an earlier sign-in, not live access, and can remain after access is revoked. MCP cards cannot disconnect tools — remove the connector in the AI tool itself.

Step 2: Keep your old notetaker connected

Add your previous notetaker as a second connector in the same AI tool, exactly as you added Wispr Flow: add a custom or remote connector, paste its URL, and sign in through the browser. For a different notetaker, search its help center for "MCP".

Turn both connectors on in your chat. In Claude:

  1. Click the + at the bottom left.

  2. Choose Connectors.

  3. Toggle on both Wispr Flow and your old notetaker.

Step 3: Search across both

Name both tools in your prompt when you need history — for example: "Search both my Wispr Flow and Granola notes for the pricing discussion with Acme."

Searches and long notes or transcripts can return partial results. Ask the AI to continue or narrow the search; request a transcript explicitly when you need it.

Step 4: Retire the old notetaker

Once your recent meetings all live in Wispr Flow and you no longer need the old back catalog, open your AI tool's connector settings and remove the old notetaker connector, leaving Wispr Flow connected. Leaving both connected indefinitely keeps the history one search away.

If notes don't appear

  1. Confirm the connector is toggled on for the conversation.

  2. Check that you're signed in to the account holding those notes.

  3. Repeat the search. Repeated searches can temporarily fail without an explanation — wait a minute and try again.

Authorization can succeed while Cloud Sync restrictions prevent meeting results. If Notetaker works with your personal Cloud Sync setting off, meeting and calendar access still works. Scratchpad and account-information access do not require Cloud Sync, but organization MCP restrictions and HIPAA still apply.

Warning: meetings recorded while Cloud Sync was off were never uploaded and remain missing from connector searches after you turn it back on.

Your AI tool can show these access-refusal messages:

Message

Restriction

Cloud Sync must be enabled to use this feature.

Cloud Sync blocks meeting and calendar access for this account.

This feature is not available for HIPAA-covered accounts.

An active HIPAA BAA blocks MCP access.

MCP access has been disabled by your organization's administrator.

Your organization blocks every MCP tool.

Scratchpad access has been disabled by your organization's administrator.

Your organization blocks Scratchpad access.

Organization MCP refusals take precedence over HIPAA refusals; HIPAA refusals take precedence over Cloud Sync refusals. Policy changes can take about a minute, or a few minutes for organization-wide changes, to stop access.

If you turned Cloud Sync off yourself

Use these steps when your account requires Cloud Sync and your own setting is off.

  1. Open Wispr Flow → Settings → Data & Privacy.

  2. Turn on Dictation cloud storage.

  3. Repeat the search; if results remain missing, check the policy restrictions above.

When your organization or a HIPAA BAA controls these settings

Only admins can change org Private Cloud Sync policy or manage the org BAA.

  • Organization disabled Private Cloud Sync: admins see Turn on Private Cloud Sync, which opens the admin portal; other members see only Request access, which notifies admins and confirms with "Access requested" without changing the setting.

  • Organization has a signed HIPAA BAA: admins see Manage in Admin Portal; other members see only Request access.

  • While an account is locked by policy: turning Private Cloud Sync back on reverts to off.

Warning: if you personally signed a HIPAA BAA, Private Cloud Sync is locked, and the only actions are View signed BAA and Revoke BAA. Revoking a personal BAA may not restore access if an org-level BAA is still active.

Still stuck?

Contact support if MCP remains missing, sign-in returns to the normal dashboard without completing setup, or searches still fail after the relevant checks. Include:

  • Your platform, AI tool, and notetaker app.

  • The step that failed, what you tried, and any error message.
