Android 2.3.0 makes dictated text land more reliably in text fields, encrypts your sign-in session on your device, and uploads audio only when your privacy settings permit it.

What's new in this release

  • Cleaner text insertion: Dictated text lands more reliably in text fields, including fields with animated or rotating hint text.

  • Encrypted session storage: Your sign-in session is stored encrypted at rest on your device.

  • Audio upload on consent: Audio uploads only when your Privacy Mode setting permits it. Enterprise Zero Data Retention or a signed HIPAA BAA overrides your personal setting.

Important: Editing a draft with your cursor mid-field while dictation is running can replace or drop that edit. Tap to place your cursor at the end of the text before dictating to append safely. Dictating over a selected word works as expected.

Limitations and notes

  • All changes in this release are Android only.

  • Dictated text is never inserted into password, numeric, or phone-number fields, and Flow does not read content from URL/address bars or banking apps.

  • If dictated text can't be inserted, or you switch apps during or right after dictating, the text goes to your clipboard to paste manually.

  • Android dictation sessions are capped at 5 minutes, with a warning at 4 minutes ("1 minute left before you reach the 5-minute limit.") and a "Session ended, 5-minute limit reached" message at the cap.

Do I need to do anything to get these changes?

Update to version 2.3.0 or later from the Google Play Store. No settings changes are needed.

Is my existing dictation data affected by encrypted session storage?

No. It affects how your sign-in session is stored on your device, not your dictation content or transcripts. Existing sessions migrate automatically and you stay signed in.
