Trial End Value Summary in Wispr Flow
Last updated: July 12, 2026
Available on: Mac, Windows
Near the end of your free trial, Flow shows a personalized summary of your usage along with two ways to keep going: upgrade to a paid plan, or continue with a weekly word limit. This guide explains what you'll see and how to choose.
What it is
The Trial End Value Summary is a modal and notification that appears near the end of your free trial. It shows a snapshot of your Wispr Flow usage and presents two options: upgrade to a paid plan, or keep using Flow with a weekly word limit. The messaging is personalized based on your usage and whether you're on a personal or team account.
Note: The summary is rolling out gradually, so not every trial user will see it yet. Some new users start on a weekly word cap instead of a standard trial — see "For users without a standard trial" below.
When to use it
You'll encounter the summary when:
It's the last day of your 14-day trial: A modal appears on the final day (when one day remains), summarizing your usage and prompting you to choose a plan.
Your trial has just ended: A notification appears with an upgrade option the next time you dictate during the grace period.
Within 14 days after your trial ends (solo users): The first time you open the hub after your trial ends, you may see a post-trial modal summarizing your usage — provided you dictated at least 200 words during your trial.
Note: The summary does not appear if you're already on a paid or active enterprise plan, or if you're on a team or enterprise account.
How it works in Flow
Overview
Flow personalizes the summary based on how you used the product during your trial, then presents two paths forward: upgrade to keep unlimited use, or continue with a weekly word cap.
Key behaviors
Solo vs. team: The messaging and options reflect whether you're using Flow individually or as part of a team account. Post-trial modals are shown to solo (individual) users only — team and enterprise users do not see them.
Power vs. light user: Flow categorizes your usage based on how much you dictated during your trial. Power users (averaging more than 2,000 words per week) see their actual weekly word average compared against the free plan's 2,000-word weekly limit in a bar chart. Light users (below that threshold) see a side-by-side comparison of the free plan versus Flow Pro.
Post-trial modal variants: Solo users whose trial has ended may see one of two modal designs when they first open the hub:
Power variant: A bar chart showing your weekly word average versus the 2,000-word free limit, with options to "Get unlimited words" or "Continue with word limit." Shown to users averaging more than 2,000 words per week.
Light variant: A plan comparison card showing your Current Plan (2,000-word weekly limit) versus Flow Pro (Unlimited), with the same two options. Shown to users below the power threshold.
One-time display: The post-trial modal appears only once per user. It will not show again after you've seen it.
Get unlimited words / Keep unlimited words: Upgrade to a paid plan to continue using Flow without limits.
Continue with word limit: Stay on the Basic plan at 2,000 words per week without upgrading. You can upgrade later at any time.
Notification vs. modal: The post-trial notification only includes the "Keep unlimited words" button. The "Continue with word limit" option is available on the modal only.
Team trial countdown: If you're a member of a paid team currently in a trial, the "Trial ends in X days" banner in the sidebar reflects your team's trial end date.
For users without a standard trial (weekly word cap)
Some new users are enrolled in an updated experience with no 14-day free trial. Instead, you start with a limit of 2,000 words per week.
First time you hit the limit: You'll receive a notification letting you know you've reached your 2,000-word weekly cap, with an option to upgrade to a paid plan.
Bonus week: Some users in this experience are granted a one-week bonus when they first hit the limit, raising their cap to 10,000 words for that week. A "Keep dictating" option appears in the notification — tap it to activate the bonus.
Words left this week: The hub displays how many words you have remaining this week. This count reflects whichever cap is active — 2,000 normally, or 10,000 during a bonus week.
No trial end summary: If you're in this experience, you won't see the Trial End Value Summary modal. You can upgrade to a paid plan at any time from Settings.
Common issues
Sidebar shows "Trial ends in 0 days" for paid team members mid-trial
Previously, some paid team members saw the sidebar display "0 days" instead of the actual days remaining during a trial. The sidebar now correctly reflects your team's trial end date. To resolve:
Update Wispr Flow to the latest version.
Restart Flow after updating.
FAQs
Why am I seeing this modal?
You're on the last day of your free trial, or your trial has recently ended. Flow is showing a summary of your usage and your options for continuing. If you're a solo user whose trial ended within the last 14 days and you dictated at least 200 words, you may also see a personalized post-trial modal the first time you open the hub.
Not everyone on my team is seeing this — why?
The Trial End Value Summary is rolling out gradually and isn't visible to all users yet. If you don't see it, your account either isn't part of the current rollout, or you're in the updated experience that uses a weekly word cap instead of a standard trial. Post-trial modals are also shown to solo users only — team and enterprise accounts do not see them.
What happens if I choose "Continue with word limit"?
You can keep using Flow after your trial ends, but your usage is capped at 2,000 words per week. Upgrade to a paid plan at any time to remove the limit.
What does "power user" or "light user" mean?
Flow categorizes your usage based on how much you dictated. If you average more than 2,000 words per week, you're a power user and will see a bar chart comparing your weekly average to the free plan's word limit. If you're below that threshold, you're a light user and will see a side-by-side plan comparison instead. This only affects the modal design shown to you — not your plan or pricing.
Can I dismiss the modal and come back to it later?
The post-trial modal appears only once — dismissing it means it won't show again. After dismissing, a post-trial notification appears the next time you dictate during the grace period. The notification only offers "Keep unlimited words" — it does not include the "Continue with word limit" option.
I don't have a trial — why do I see a weekly word limit instead?
Some new users are enrolled in an updated experience that replaces the standard free trial with a 2,000-word weekly cap. If this applies to you, you won't see the Trial End Value Summary. You can upgrade to a paid plan at any time from Settings to remove the limit.
I got a "Keep dictating" option after hitting my word limit — what does that do?
If you're in the word-cap experience and selected "Keep dictating" when you first hit your limit, you've been granted a one-week bonus that raises your weekly cap from 2,000 to 10,000 words. This bonus applies for one week only. Your hub will show the updated words-remaining count while the bonus is active.
Limitations and notes
This experience is available on Mac and Windows desktop.
The Trial End Value Summary is rolling out gradually — not all users will see it during this phase.
Some new users won't have a standard trial. They start with a 2,000-word weekly cap and won't see the Trial End Value Summary modal.
Post-trial modals are shown to solo (individual) users only. Team and enterprise accounts do not see them.
The post-trial modal appears only if you dictated at least 200 words during your trial and your trial ended within the last 14 days. It is shown only once per user.
Usage-based personalization (power vs. light user) is based on your average weekly word count. Users averaging more than 2,000 words per week see the Power variant (bar chart); all others see the Light variant (plan comparison card).
The end-of-trial modal appears on the last day of your 14-day trial (when one day remains). The post-trial notification appears during the grace period the next time you dictate.
The summary does not appear for users on an active paid or enterprise plan.
For paid team members in a trial, the sidebar countdown reflects the team's trial end date, not an individual trial date.
