Your Usage tab: Track your dictation stats in Wispr Flow

The Your Usage tab in Insights shows your dictation speed, automatic corrections, total words, app breakdown, and activity streak — so you can see how much Flow is doing for you.

When to use it

Open Insights when you want to:

  • Check your average dictation speed and percentile against global typing speeds.

  • See how many corrections Flow made for you automatically.

  • Track which apps you dictate into most often.

  • Review your dictation streak and consistency.

  • Jump to your team's usage dashboard in the Admin Portal (Enterprise admins only).

How it works in Flow

Overview

Insights has up to three tabs: "Your usage" (the default), "Your voice", and "Leaderboard" (shown only to eligible team and enterprise users). Your Usage is always available and holds five tiles of personal dictation activity.

Key behaviors

  • Words per minute (WPM): Your average dictation speed as a rounded whole number, with your percentile against global typing speeds (e.g., "Top 4%"), ranging from "Top 0.1%" to "Top 99%." No percentile appears when your WPM is 0. Both update immediately after each dictation, and WPM is accurate for all supported languages, including Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Khmer, and Lao.

  • Corrections by Flow: Transcription corrections Flow made automatically — including filler words like "um" and "like" — plus dictionary and snippet substitutions, split into two rows: words corrected and dictionary fixes. Both rows are hidden when both counts are zero; counts of 1,000,000+ display compact (e.g. "1.2M").

  • Total words dictated: A running count of every word you've dictated with Flow, plus a badge showing percent change (e.g., "+12% this month") — see the FAQ on the monthly comparison badge. When you have mobile words, a two-segment proportional bar labeled "Desktop" and "Mobile" appears (hover each segment for exact word counts) alongside a comparison tagline (e.g. "You've written N tweets!"). With no mobile words, the tile shows a desktop-only row with a Download on mobile button.

  • Desktop app usage breakdown: A bar chart of your dictation time across personal messages, work messages, emails, AI prompts, documents, and other tasks, with a display count and percentage per row. Emails show at half their dictation count and documents at one fifth (rounded); other categories use the raw count. Hover a bar for the intensity label and raw word count: 🚀 Power usage (10,000+ words), 👍 Moderate usage (1,000–9,999 words), 🤏 Light usage (under 1,000 words).

  • Usage streak heatmap: A Sun–Sat contribution grid with month labels. Shading maps to daily word counts: blank = 0, 1–249, 250–499, 500–749, 750+. A "Current streak" swatch appears in the legend, and days in your current streak glow, only when that streak is longer than 1 day, ending on the most recent day you dictated. Days before your account was created or after today are blank with no tooltip. Hover any cell for total words (desktop and mobile combined), apps used, and your top app that day. Each click of the arrow buttons above the calendar jumps back 4 weeks.

  • Streaks and app count: Insights tracks your current streak, your longest streak, and the number of distinct apps you've dictated into.

  • Share: Opens a carousel of branded share cards you can copy, download as an image, or share to X or LinkedIn. The button stays disabled until your main stats finish loading, and may become active before the heatmap does.

  • See team usage: Appears next to the Share button in the Your Usage header, only on the Your Usage tab, for Admin, Super Admin, and IT Admin roles in an Enterprise organization. It opens the team usage dashboard at admin.wisprflow.ai/app/usage in your default browser.

  • Leaderboard tab: Visible to users in a multi-seat subscription. Business plan members get full access; Pro plan members (monthly or yearly) and legacy Team plan members see a blurred preview. Basic users without an organization do not see the tab.

How to open Insights

  1. Open the Wispr Flow desktop app.

  2. Click Insights in the left sidebar of the app window.

  3. Select the Your Usage tab at the top of the page.

Examples

The share carousel holds up to 6 cards, in this order: Flow Highlights → Total Words → Flow Streak → How Fast You Flow (WPM) → Your Flow Activity (only when the heatmap has loaded) → Where You Flow (only when your desktop usage breakdown has entries).

Flow Highlights share card

What it shows: Your daily streak, total words dictated, average dictation speed (labeled "Average Speed"), and apps used — in that order.

Total words dictated share card

What it shows: Your total word count with a comparison tagline bucketed by that count — thank-you notes at very low counts, tweets in the thousands, complete books above 100,000 words. The same tagline appears on the in-app Total Words tile.

Flow Streak share card

What it shows: Your current streak day count as a large number.

How fast you Flow share card

What it shows: Your WPM as a rounded whole number and your percentile against global typing speeds (e.g., "Top 4%").

Your Flow activity share card

What it shows: Your activity heatmap. Available only after both your main stats and heatmap data have loaded.

Where you Flow share card

What it shows: Your desktop usage bar chart. Available when your desktop usage breakdown has entries.

Sharing a card to X or LinkedIn

You click: The X or LinkedIn share option on a card.

Flow does: Copies the card image to your clipboard and opens the platform's compose page in your browser with pre-filled text ("Check out my Wispr Flow Insights!"). Paste the image into the post to include it.

FAQs

A tile shows an error. What should I do?

If the main stats fail, Your Usage shows "Something went wrong loading your insights." with a Try again button that retries both the stats and the heatmap. If only the heatmap fails, a Retry button appears on the heatmap tile. If the error persists, close and reopen the Insights page.

How far back does the heatmap go?

Back to your account creation date or the earliest date with heatmap data — whichever is more recent. The earlier arrow is disabled at that floor, and the later arrow is disabled once you're back at the present. The view adjusts to your window width.

How does the monthly comparison badge on Total Words work?

It compares your word count so far this month against the same number of days in the previous month (capped to the shorter month's length), and updates immediately after each dictation. Hover the badge for exact numbers, shown as "{current} words compared to {previous} words this time last month." The badge is hidden when there's no prior-month data, when the previous month had no words, when the change is zero, or when your account was created after the start of the comparison period.

How is my WPM percentile calculated?

Against global keyboard typing speeds from a published academic study — not against other Wispr Flow users. Because dictation is generally much faster than typing, most users see a high percentile.

I dictate in Japanese, Chinese, Korean, or another Asian language. Will my WPM and word counts be accurate?

Yes. Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Khmer, and Lao are all supported for dictation. Use the latest version of Wispr Flow.

My desktop usage breakdown shows all zeros. Is something wrong?

No. Until your breakdown has been aggregated, all categories show 0 rather than an error. Brand-new accounts see zeroed tiles, and stats populate as you use Flow.

I'm an admin. How do I view my team's overall usage?

Click See team usage next to the Share button in the Your Usage header. See the See team usage behavior above for role requirements.

I'm on a Pro plan. What do I see in the Leaderboard tab?

A blurred preview of the leaderboard. Upgrading to a Business plan unlocks the full view.

Limitations and notes

  • Insights is available on Mac and Windows desktop only — not on iOS or Android.

  • The desktop app usage breakdown covers desktop dictation only; mobile dictation is not included in the chart.

  • The heatmap hover tooltip combines desktop and mobile dictation. Apps appear by name (for example, Slack) on either platform, and desktop and mobile usage in the same app count as one app toward your total apps used.

  • Sharing to X or LinkedIn requires pasting the copied card image into the post manually.

  • The See team usage button is not available to standalone Pro Team plan users or non-admin members.
