Enabling Notetaker for your organization (Enterprise admins)
Last updated: August 28, 2026
Available on: Admin portal (web), Enterprise plans with an admin role. Notetaker itself runs on Mac.
Notetaker is becoming available to Enterprise organizations. One org-wide setting turns it on for your whole team ahead of the rollout, or keeps it off. Below: the timing, how to switch it, and what members see in each state.
Rollout timing
September 30, 2026: Notetaker becomes available automatically unless you disable it before this date.
Through October 31, 2026: Notetaker access is unlimited for your members.
Any time before September 30: Admins can enable Notetaker immediately, or disable it so the automatic rollout does not apply.
Enable or disable Notetaker org-wide
Open Organization settings in the admin portal.
Find the Notetaker setting.
Set it to Enabled for everyone or Disabled for everyone. It applies to every member; there is no per-member override.
State | What members can do |
Enabled for everyone | Members on Mac can record meetings and get live transcripts, notes, and summaries. |
Disabled for everyone | Notetaker is blocked for all members; dictation is unaffected. |
What members see when Notetaker is disabled
Non-admin members see a Request access button. It logs the request in-app and does not email you.
Before you enable it
Warning: Notetaker is not yet HIPAA-compliant. If your organization has a signed HIPAA BAA, enabling Notetaker org-wide opens a confirmation dialog: Revoke BAA revokes the BAA and enables Notetaker in one step; Cancel leaves both unchanged. While Notetaker is enabled, accepting a BAA is blocked by a "Disable Notetaker first" dialog.
Participants are not notified. Notetaker captures audio on the member's device rather than joining as a visible bot, so there is no "joined the meeting" notice. Recording and consent laws vary by state and country — confirm with your legal team what your team must disclose.
Review your agreements. Your MSA and DPA govern your organization's use of Notetaker. Current documentation is in the Wispr Trust Center; the enterprise team answers questions at enterprise@wispr.ai.
FAQs
What happens if we do nothing before September 30?
Notetaker becomes available to your members automatically. To prevent that, set the org-wide setting to Disabled for everyone first.
Can we turn it off again after enabling it?
Yes. Switch back to Disabled for everyone at any time.
Can we enable Notetaker for only part of the team?
No. The setting is org-wide — either enabled or disabled for every member.
Do Windows members get Notetaker?
Not yet. Notetaker is Mac-only, so the org-wide setting has no effect for members on Windows, iOS, or Android.
What happens to meeting audio and transcripts?
Wispr does not use customer content to train AI models without consent. Transcript retention and deletion controls live in Notetaker settings on the member's Mac.
