Delete transcripts and history in Wispr Flow

Last updated: September 19, 2026

Available on: Mac, Windows, iOS, Android (Android instructions apply to version 2.5.2)

Remove an unwanted transcript, clear stored dictation history, or enable automatic deletion. The available controls and their effects differ by platform.

Warning: Flow has no undo or restore option for deleted transcripts. Save anything you need first.

Deleting local history does not necessarily remove copies already uploaded to Wispr's servers. On desktop, a local backup may retain deleted transcripts until it is overwritten or purged.

Delete one transcript

Mac and Windows

Recent Activity is on the Hub home page.

  1. Hover over the transcript to reveal More options (⋮).

  2. Open More options (⋮).

  3. Select Delete transcript.

  4. Confirm Yes, delete it.

The row disappears and “Transcript deleted” appears.

iOS

Transcripts are in the history tab. Delete is disabled while that row is retrying.

  1. Long-press the transcript row.

  2. Tap Delete.

  3. Confirm Delete in the “Delete this transcript?” alert.

On success, the row disappears and “Transcript deleted” appears. If the row stays visible, deletion failed; contact support.

Android

Transcripts are on the home page.

Warning: Deleting a transcript also deletes its stored audio file.

  1. Tap the transcript card's three-dot menu (⋮).

  2. Tap Delete.

  3. Confirm Delete in the “Delete transcript” dialog.

The transcript disappears from history.

Clear history or enable automatic deletion

Warning: On Android and desktop, signing out removes locally stored content — save anything you need first. Cloud-synced content re-syncs when you sign back in; device-only content does not.

  • Mac and Windows: Signing out clears locally stored content, including your notes.

  • Android: Signing out also resets your local stats (word count, streak, WPM, apps used). Local audio files can remain, and sign-out completes even if transcript deletion fails.

Mac and Windows

Local data storage controls desktop dictation history, not Notetaker or mobile history. Your organization can restrict the available options or lock the setting.

Warning: Both deleting options below affect polish history as well as dictation transcripts.

  1. Open Settings → Data and Privacy.

  2. Select an option from Local data storage.

  3. Confirm a deleting option with the button listed below.

Option

Effect

Confirmation

Store data locally (default)

Stores dictation transcripts locally.

None; applies immediately.

Auto-delete local data every 24hrs

Deletes history older than 24 hours.

Enable auto-delete

Never store data locally

Immediately deletes all history.

Delete all data

Choosing “Never store data locally” replaces the Hub list with “History disabled”. To resume saving history, select “Store data locally” if your organization allows it.

Signing out on the Account screen deletes your recent transcript history.

iOS

Automatically delete transcripts is off by default. When enabled, Flow keeps today's transcripts and clears all others when you sign in or open or return to Flow while signed in. This is not a rolling 24-hour window.

  1. Open Settings → Data and privacy in the Wispr Flow app.

  2. Turn on Automatically delete transcripts.

Your organization can force this setting on and lock it. If Flow cannot load your organization's policy, auto-delete is turned on and locked until the policy resolves.

iOS has no in-app “delete all” option — use Automatically delete transcripts or delete transcripts individually.

Signing out separately clears all locally stored transcripts, regardless of this setting.

Android

Android has no “Delete all” button in history. The sign-out dialog offers to remove transcripts stored on this device.

  1. Open the Account screen.

  2. Tap Sign out.

  3. Confirm Sign Out in the “Sign out and delete transcripts?” dialog.

Signing back in with the same account does not trigger an additional history clear. Signing in with a different account clears the previous account's history and audio files automatically.

FAQs

Why do I still see transcripts on my phone after deleting history on my computer?

Transcripts are stored locally on each device. Deleting history on one device does not affect your other devices.

Still stuck?

Reach out to our support team if:

  • History is empty or missing transcripts you expected to see.

  • Deletion appears to succeed but transcripts reappear after a restart.

Include your platform, device, app version, and the steps you tried.
