MCP | How to Connect Wispr Flow to Claude, ChatGPT, and Other AI Tools

Last updated: September 10, 2026

Available on: Mac (Notetaker MCP, limited beta). Windows shows a "coming soon" screen. iOS can view Notetaker meetings synced from Mac, but has no MCP or recording UI.

Connect the AI tools you already use to your Wispr Flow meeting transcripts and notes, so they can search your calls and help you act on them without copy-pasting.

Note: The connection is read-only. Connected tools can read Notetaker meeting transcripts, refined transcripts, summaries, and Notetaker chat history — not your dictation transcription history, which stays local to each device. They cannot change or delete anything.

Quick checks

  • Is Notetaker available on your account? Open the Notetaker page in Wispr Flow and look for the Notetaker MCP banner. If it isn't there, MCP isn't available for your account yet.

  • Are you on a HIPAA BAA? MCP isn't available for HIPAA-covered accounts, individual or organizational.

  • Is Dictation Cloud Storage on? MCP needs it enabled; your organization may lock it. Business-plan accounts also need Notetaker enabled for them.

  • Are you signed in to the right account? Authorize with the Wispr Flow account that holds your notes — personal and work accounts return different results.

How to connect

Step 1: Copy your connection URL

  1. Open the Notetaker page in Wispr Flow and find the Notetaker MCP banner.

  2. Click Set up in the banner to get your connection URL. (Skip dismisses the banner.)

Step 2: Add the connection in your AI tool

Use your connection URL with the setup steps provided by Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, or another MCP-compatible tool.

Note: In Claude, you switch the connector on per conversation: click the + button at the bottom left of the chat box, choose Connectors, and toggle Wispr Flow on.

Step 3: Confirm it works

Start a new chat with Wispr Flow enabled and ask one of these:

  • "Summarize my last three calls with the design team."

  • "Find the meeting where we set the launch date and pull the exact quote."

  • "What did we discuss in yesterday's 1:1?"

If the answer cites your actual meetings, you're done. If the tool finds no notes, see the FAQs.

iOS and Notetaker

iOS receives Notetaker meetings synced from Mac — title, summary, transcript, speaker map, and audio metadata — stored encrypted and excluded from iCloud backup. iOS cannot record meetings or connect MCP tools.

FAQs

It connected, but my notes don't come through

Turn on Dictation Cloud Storage in Wispr Flow settings, then ask again. If notes still don't appear, confirm you signed in with the account that holds them. Your organization may lock the setting:

  • Admin-locked (organization): A "Manage in portal" or "Enable" button opens the admin portal; only admins can change this setting.

  • Non-admin enterprise member: The one-time "Request access" button records your request in the app but does not notify your admin — follow up with them directly.

  • Too many requests: A tool that queries repeatedly can be temporarily throttled, which looks like missing notes. Wait a minute and retry.

Notetaker chats can always be deleted, even after Cloud Sync is off. For personal Scratchpad Notes (a separate feature), disabling Cloud Sync stops sync with no error; local notes are preserved and sync resumes when Cloud Sync is re-enabled. Your organization can separately disable Scratchpad sync, which also hides the Scratchpad shortcut and closes open Scratchpad windows on desktop.

On a HIPAA BAA, Dictation Cloud Storage isn't the cause — see the HIPAA question below.

I'm on a HIPAA BAA and MCP won't connect

MCP isn't available for HIPAA-covered accounts. Connected tools are refused with "This feature is not available for HIPAA-covered accounts" across the whole MCP surface, not just meeting content. This is checked before Dictation Cloud Storage, so enabling that setting won't resolve it.

  • Individual BAA: On desktop, view or revoke your BAA from the gate modal ("View signed BAA" / "Revoke BAA") or from Settings → Data and Privacy on Mac. Revoking removes HIPAA protections from your account and cannot be undone, so review your data and privacy settings straight afterward. On iOS, the BAA cannot be revoked in-app.

  • Organization BAA: Only an admin can manage it. "Manage in portal" and "Enable" open the Admin Portal.

Recording, transcripts, and summaries continue to work normally.

My admin turned Notetaker off for my organization

Meetings created after an admin disables Notetaker are blocked with "Notetaker is disabled for your organization." Meetings recorded before that are unaffected, and only an admin can re-enable it from the admin portal.

Admins can also enforce an org-wide Notetaker transcript retention policy (for example, 30 days or never delete) that overrides individual settings.

I don't see the Notetaker MCP banner or the Go to MCP shortcut

Both appear only when MCP is available for your account. If neither is visible, Notetaker may not be enabled on your account, or your admin has disabled MCP access.

Claude connected but isn't using my notes

Start a new chat and toggle Wispr Flow on for that conversation using the + button, then Connectors.

I can't add the connector on a Claude Team or Enterprise plan

An Owner adds it for the organization first. After that, connect to it from Settings → Connectors.

The confirmation page showed an error or "Connection cancelled"

Connect again and approve access when prompted. Check the AI tool's connector settings for the specific error.

What do access-denied errors on Notetaker or meeting requests mean?

There are three causes, and only the first is user-fixable:

  • Cloud Sync denial — "Cloud Sync must be enabled to use this feature." Enable Dictation Cloud Storage in Wispr Flow settings.

  • Enterprise IP-allowlist violation — your network isn't on your organization's allowlist. Contact your admin.

  • Banned or soft-deleted account — contact support.

Is my data safe? Can these tools change my notes?

No tool can edit or delete anything — the connection is read-only. You authorize through a browser sign-in, so the tool never sees your password, and you can disconnect at any time from the tool's connector settings.

You can delete a meeting at any time from Wispr Flow: this removes it from your history and deletes the transcript, refined transcript, audio, and speaker data. Once erased, it cannot be restored or re-transcribed.

Can I connect more than one AI tool?

Yes. The same connection URL works across Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP-compatible tools at the same time.

Still stuck?

Reach out to the Flow team if:

  • You can't complete the browser sign-in when authorizing access.

  • Your notes still don't appear after turning on Dictation Cloud Storage.

  • The connection page shows an error repeatedly after retrying.

Tell us which AI tool you're connecting, your platform, and which step is failing. Most connection issues are resolved in one reply. Contact support.
