MCP | How to Connect Wispr Flow to Claude, ChatGPT, and Other AI Tools

Last updated: August 12, 2026

Available on: Mac only (Windows not yet available to all users). Works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code, and other MCP-compatible AI tools. Requires Notetaker (Meeting Recorder) and Cloud Sync on your Wispr Flow account. The MCP tab is a desktop Settings feature, with no iOS or Android equivalent; if you don't see it, MCP isn't available on your account or plan yet.

Connect the AI tools you already use to your Wispr Flow meeting notes, so they can search your calls and help you act on them without copy-pasting. Setup takes about two minutes per tool.

Note: The connection is read-only. Connected tools can read your Notetaker meeting notes, summaries, and briefs, but cannot change or delete anything, and they have no access to your dictations.

Quick checks

  • Is Notetaker enabled? Click the Flow icon in your menu bar or system tray, open Settings, and look for the MCP tab. If it isn't there, Notetaker isn't available on your account yet.

  • Is Cloud Sync on? Connected tools read your notes through Cloud Sync. Turn it on in Wispr Flow settings first, or the connection completes but no notes come through.

  • Are you signed in to the right account? Authorize with the same Wispr Flow account that holds your notes. Personal and work accounts are separate and return different results.

Note: After you record 3 or more meetings, Wispr Flow may prompt you to set up MCP with a one-time modal on the Notetaker page, an inline banner, or a one-time popover after your first "Copy to Markdown" from a meeting menu. Each appears once, and its Set up button opens Settings → MCP.

How to connect

Step 1: Copy your connection URL

  1. Open Wispr Flow settings and go to the MCP tab.

  2. Copy the read-only Server URL field with the copy button. The URL is the same for every tool. A "Server URL copied to clipboard" toast confirms success; "Couldn't copy the URL. Try again." means it failed.

Step 2: Add the connection in your AI tool

Tip: The MCP page has one-click Connect to Claude and Connect to ChatGPT buttons that open the tool's Wispr Flow connector page in your browser (claude.ai/directory/connectors/wispr-flow and the ChatGPT plugin directory link). The manual steps below are only needed for other tools.

Open the accordion for the tool you use.

Claude — Free, Pro, or Max plan

Claude connects to Wispr Flow as a custom connector. These steps are identical in Claude on the web, the Claude desktop app, and Cowork.

  1. Open claude.ai/customize/connectors, or go to Settings → Connectors in Claude.

  2. Click the + button, then select Add custom connector.

  3. Paste your connection URL into the URL field, leaving the Advanced settings fields blank.

  4. Click Add, then click Connect next to Wispr Flow.

  5. Sign in to Wispr Flow in the browser window that opens and approve access.

Wispr Flow then appears in your connector list marked as connected. If it still shows Connect, repeat step 5. For any error or cancelled connection, see the FAQs below.

Claude — Team or Enterprise plan

An Owner adds the connector for the organization once; members then connect individually.

Owner, one time:

  1. Open claude.ai/admin-settings/connectors, or go to Settings → Organization settings → Connectors.

  2. Click Add, hover over Custom, then select Web.

  3. Paste the connection URL and click Add. Wispr Flow appears in the organization connector list with a "Custom" label.

Each member, after that:

  1. Go to Settings → Connectors in Claude.

  2. Find Wispr Flow in the list and click Connect.

  3. Sign in and approve access in the browser window that opens.

For any error message, see the FAQs below.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects to custom MCP servers through Developer mode, on the web only — not in the mobile app.

  1. Go to Settings → Apps → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.

  2. Go to Settings → Apps → Create.

  3. Paste your connection URL and name it "Wispr Flow."

  4. Choose OAuth for authentication, then click Scan Tools.

  5. Complete the browser sign-in and wait for the scan to finish.

  6. Click Create. Wispr Flow now appears in the tools menu of a new chat.

You can also add Wispr Flow to ChatGPT directly and sign in when prompted.

Note: Business, Enterprise, and Edu plans have full support and may require an admin to enable Developer mode for your account first. Pro can connect read-only tools like Wispr Flow. Custom connectors aren't available on the Free plan.

Cursor

  1. Open Settings → MCP → Add new MCP server.

  2. Add an entry named wispr-flow with your connection URL, then save.

  3. Click to authenticate and sign in to Wispr Flow in the browser window that opens.

Wispr Flow then shows as connected in the MCP server list.

VS Code and other MCP tools

VS Code (with GitHub Copilot):

  1. Run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette.

  2. Choose HTTP (remote) and paste your connection URL.

  3. Complete the browser sign-in.

Other tools: Anywhere a tool accepts a remote MCP server URL, paste your connection URL and sign in when prompted.

Note: A tool that only accepts a local command instead of a URL doesn't support remote connections like this one. Use Claude or ChatGPT instead.

Note: In Claude, adding the connector makes it available, but you switch it on per conversation. Click the + button at the bottom left of the chat box, choose Connectors, and toggle Wispr Flow on.

Step 3: Confirm it works

Start a new chat with Wispr Flow enabled and ask one of these:

  • "What were the action items from my meetings this week?"

  • "Summarize my last three calls with the design team."

  • "Find the meeting where we set the launch date and pull the exact quote."

  • "What did I commit to in yesterday's 1:1?"

If the answer cites your actual meetings, you're done. If the tool says it can't find any notes, see the FAQs below.

FAQs

It connected, but my notes don't come through

Turn on Cloud Sync in Wispr Flow settings, then ask again. If notes still don't appear, confirm you signed in with the account that holds them. Cloud Sync may be locked by your organization:

  • Admin- or HIPAA-locked (organization): A "Manage in portal" or "Enable" button opens admin.wisprflow.ai; only admins can change this setting.

  • Non-admin enterprise member: Use the one-time "Request access" button to ask your admin to enable Cloud Sync.

  • Individual HIPAA BAA: Revoke the BAA to re-enable Cloud Sync.

I don't see MCP in Wispr Flow settings

The MCP tab appears once Notetaker is enabled for your account. If it isn't there, Notetaker isn't available on your account yet.

Claude connected but isn't using my notes

Toggle Wispr Flow on for that conversation using the + button at the bottom left of the chat, then Connectors. Start a new chat and confirm your Wispr Flow app is up to date.

I can't add the connector on a Claude Team or Enterprise plan

An Owner adds it for the organization first. After that, connect to it from Settings → Connectors.

The confirmation page showed an error or "Connection cancelled"

Connect again and approve access when prompted. Wispr Flow's MCP settings page shows no connection status — all status and error details appear in the AI tool's interface. If the problem persists, contact support@wisprflow.ai.

Is my data safe? Can these tools change my notes?

No tool can edit or delete anything — the connection is read-only and covers only Notetaker meeting notes, summaries, and briefs. You authorize through a browser sign-in, so the tool never sees your password, and you can disconnect at any time from the tool's connector settings.

Do I need a paid plan for the AI tool?

It depends on the tool. Claude supports custom connectors on Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise (Free allows one). ChatGPT requires Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Edu, with Developer mode enabled.

Can I connect more than one AI tool?

Yes. The same connection URL works across Claude, ChatGPT, and other MCP-compatible tools at the same time.

Still stuck?

Reach out to the Flow team if:

  • You can't complete the browser sign-in when authorizing access.

  • Your notes still don't appear after turning on Cloud Sync.

  • You don't see the MCP setting and you believe Notetaker should be available on your account.

  • The connection page shows an error repeatedly after retrying.
