Plans, upgrades and word limits on Android

Last updated: September 21, 2026

Available on: Android

On the Free plan you get a set number of dictated words each week; Pro removes that weekly limit. Here's where to check your usage, what happens as you approach the limit, and how to upgrade, cancel or resubscribe.

Where to see your plan and usage

  • Home screen: when you are close to or over the weekly limit, a card shows a usage bar and a Get unlimited words button.

  • Account: the header shows your paid plan, your stats (weeks, words, words per minute) and a Manage Plan button.

  • Navigation drawer: the profile card shows a plan pill — Pro, Pro Trial, Student, Growth or Enterprise — only on paid plans. Team accounts read Pro; if your plan cannot be loaded, an Error pill appears instead.

  • Plan page: compares Free, Pro, Growth, Enterprise and Student. Open it from the drawer profile card, the Account header, or Settings → Upgrade to Pro.

Note: Each dictation is counted once, from the final transcript, so your usage matches the text you actually got.

How the weekly word limit works

On the Free plan, dictated words count toward a weekly total, and Flow warns you before you run out.

Stage

Words this week

What happens

Warning

800

You are told you are close to your weekly limit.

Soft limit

1,000

You are prompted to upgrade, and can keep dictating for now.

Hard cap

1,500

Dictation stops until your week resets or you upgrade.

How you are notified at each stage

Flow shows either a notification or a bottom sheet in the app, depending on where you are when you hit a stage. Both show where you are against the weekly limit and offer the upgrade option.

Dismissing the home screen card

Tap the X to dismiss a warning or soft-limit card. The hard-cap card cannot be dismissed, and it appears even if you dismissed an earlier soft-limit card.

Reaching the cap sticks to your account

Once you reach the hard cap, the limit stays in place for your account. Restarting the app or briefly losing your sign-in does not give you extra dictations.

Upgrade to Pro

  1. Open the Plan page, or tap Get unlimited words on the home screen card.

  2. Choose a plan card to open the paywall. Pro is sold as a monthly or an annual subscription. Student plans are not sold on Android, but a Student subscription bought on another platform is honored here.

  3. Confirm the purchase in the Google Play payment sheet, which handles Android billing.

  4. Check the Account header: Pro appears there and as a plan pill in the drawer straight away. Word limits stop applying, and the usage card and upgrade prompts disappear.

Cancel or resubscribe

  1. Open Account and tap Manage Plan.

  2. Cancel, resubscribe or change plan in Google Play, which manages the subscription.

  3. Return to Wispr Flow. Your plan updates within about a minute — no restart needed. After cancelling, the Plan page shows Expires on with your end date and a Resubscribe option, and you keep Pro until then.

When a subscription expires, Flow returns to the Free plan: the plan pill disappears and the usage bar and upgrade prompts come back.

Note: If you change your plan on another platform — for example cancelling Pro on desktop — Android picks up the change within about 5 minutes of dictating. Any new limits apply from your next dictation press, never in the middle of one.

FAQs

Why don't I see a plan pill?

Only paid plans show a pill. On the Free plan, no plan label appears in the drawer or on the Account screen.

My plan pill says Student. Is that right?

Yes. Student subscriptions show as Student rather than Pro, and include the same unlimited weekly words.

I just upgraded but still see the Free plan. What now?

Switch away from Flow and back again to refresh your plan. You can also open Account, tap Manage Plan to confirm the purchase in Google Play, or use Restore purchases to restore an active Pro subscription.

Still stuck?

Contact support if:

  • Your plan in Flow does not match your Google Play subscription after you check Manage Plan.

  • You keep seeing an Error pill instead of your plan.

  • Dictation is still blocked more than 10 minutes after upgrading.

  • Your usage numbers look wrong for the dictations you made.

Include the plan shown in Account and what you saw on screen.
