Wispr Flow Referral Program
Last updated: September 10, 2026
Available on: Mac, Windows, iOS
Share Wispr Flow and earn free Pro time. Friends who sign up through your link get a 30-day Pro trial, and you earn a free month of Pro per successful referral on an eligible paid plan.
Note: Credits require an active paid Pro or Student plan purchased on the Wispr Flow website, and apply only to an individual Pro or Student subscription. App Store subscribers and Enterprise members can share invites but cannot earn credits. See Limitations and notes.
When to use it
Use the referral program when you want to:
Give a friend, colleague, or family member a 30-day Pro trial.
Earn free months of Pro, or bank credits on the free plan to apply when you upgrade.
Apply a referral code a friend gave you after you already signed up (Mac and Windows only).
How it works in Flow
Key behaviors
Your friend gets: A 30-day Pro trial for any referral signup, regardless of your plan.
You get: One free month of Pro per successful referral, credited on your next billing cycle.
Activation: Your reward activates once your friend dictates enough words or upgrades to Pro. On Enterprise or an App Store plan, the referral is marked Complete immediately at sign-up, with no word requirement and no credit.
Where credits can be redeemed: Individual Pro and Student subscriptions only. Growth and other team-billed plans can't accept referral credit, because billing sits at the team level.
Referral statuses: Mac and Windows show "Pending," "Inactive," "Complete," and "Paid." On iOS, invites that haven't signed up show "Not signed up yet."
Trial precedence: A Student plan's 90-day trial supersedes the 30-day referral trial. Joining a team grants a separate 14-day team trial and doesn't affect your existing personal referral trial.
Best practices
Send invitations by email so your friend gets a direct link and you can track their status.
Use reminders if your friend hasn't signed up: up to 2 per person, 24 hours apart.
Refer while on the free plan to bank credits; they apply automatically once you upgrade to an eligible paid plan.
How to get your referral link
Mac and Windows
Click the Wispr Flow icon in your menu bar (Mac) or system tray (Windows) to open the app.
Go to Account in the Hub and select "Refer a friend." Some accounts also have a gift icon in the Hub top nav bar.
Copy your unique referral link from the Refer tab.
Share the link with friends, family, or colleagues.
The modal has three tabs: Refer, Past referrals, and Apply referral. Free-plan users see an "Upgrade" link that opens Settings → Plans & Billing.
Tip: To invite by email, enter up to 10 comma-separated addresses in the referral modal and click Send. Addresses that can't be invited — malformed, already an account holder, or already referred — are listed with the reason for each.
iOS
Open Wispr Flow and tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top corner.
Tap "Get a free month" or "Refer a friend."
Copy your referral link, or tap "Share Invite" to send it via iMessage, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Mail, or X. Tap "Other apps" for more options.
Your pending and completed referrals appear on this same screen; the Past Invites section appears only once you have referrals. If your link doesn't appear, tap the circular arrow icon next to it to refresh.
Tip: "Copy invite" in the Share Invite sheet copies the full invite message; "Copy" on the main referral screen copies only the link URL.
How to apply a referral code (Mac and Windows)
Available only if you don't already have a referrer. Not available on iOS or Android.
Open the referral modal using the Mac and Windows steps above.
Click the "Apply referral" tab.
Enter the referral code (for example, "JORDAN1"). It's auto-uppercased as you type.
Submit by clicking the submit button or pressing Enter.
Once applied, the credit is added to your account, appears on an upcoming invoice, and the "Apply referral" tab disappears. An empty code returns "Please enter a referral code"; other errors, such as "User already referred," also appear as notifications.
How to regenerate your referral code
Regenerate your code after updating your name or when you want a fresh link.
Open the referral modal using the steps above for your platform.
Go to the Invite tab.
Click the refresh button next to the "Your invite link" label. A "Referral code updated" notification confirms the change.
Warning: Your old link stops working for new sign-ups after you regenerate. Anyone you previously referred is automatically moved to your new code, so existing referrals are not lost.
Note: The new code is your first name in uppercase with a number suffix (for example, ALICE1, ALICE2), capped at 10 letters. Accented characters become plain letters ("Élodie" becomes "ELODIE"); if your name has no usable letters, "WISPR" is the base.
Examples
Referring a colleague on a Pro plan
Your situation: You have a Pro monthly plan purchased through the Wispr Flow website and send your referral link to a colleague.
Result: Once they sign up and dictate enough words to meet the activation threshold, your referral status changes to "Complete" and a free month of Pro is applied to your next billing cycle.
Referring a friend while on the free plan
Your situation: You're on the free plan, share your referral link, and your friend signs up.
Result: Your friend gets a 30-day Pro trial and your credit is tracked in your account, applied automatically when you upgrade to an eligible Pro plan.
Earning credits, then moving to a Growth plan
Your situation: You banked referral credits on an individual plan, then your organization moves you onto a Growth plan billed at the team level.
Result: The credits stay on your account but aren't applied to the Growth subscription. They become usable again only if you return to an individual Pro or Student subscription.
Joining a team while on a 30-day referral trial
Your situation: You signed up through a referral link, are partway through your 30-day Pro trial, then create a team or are added to one by an admin.
Result: You get a 14-day team trial on top of your existing referral trial — your personal trial is not revoked.
FAQs
Can I use my referral credit on a Growth or team plan?
No — see Limitations and notes. Earned credits stay on your account and become usable if you later hold an individual Pro or Student subscription.
Can I apply a referral code on iOS?
Not yet. The iOS app lets you share your link and view referrals, but has no "Apply referral" option. Sign in on a Mac or Windows computer with the same account and use the "Apply referral" tab, or contact support with your friend's full referral code and we'll apply it.
I didn't see the referral step during onboarding
The referral onboarding page is replaced by a Team Invite step for eligible team leaders, and skipped entirely if you're already in an active team or enterprise. Open the referral modal any time from the Hub sidebar.
My friend signed up but I didn't get credit
Check these common causes:
They didn't use your link: Referrals are tracked only when someone creates an account through your link or email invitation. They can still apply your code on Mac or Windows.
They haven't reached the activation threshold yet: Until then, the referral shows as pending.
They were referred by someone else: A person can only be referred by one user.
You're not on an eligible plan: Enterprise members can't earn rewards, App Store subscribers see a notification at sign-up confirming no credit is earned, and credit can't be applied to a Growth or team-billed subscription.
How do I track my referrals?
Open the referral screen in the app. On Mac and Windows, the Past referrals tab shows your referral count in a Pending card and a completed card labeled Referrals (or Rewards Given for App Store and team users). On iOS, reward-eligible users see "You've referred N people and earned M months"; users who can give the trial but not earn credit see "You've referred N people and given M months."
Can I refer someone who already has a Wispr Flow account?
Email invitations are for new users. An existing user who hasn't been referred can still apply your code on Mac or Windows.
My iOS referral link isn't showing up
Tap the circular arrow icon next to your link to refresh it manually. If you see "Unable to refresh referral link," try again in a moment.
Limitations and notes
Referral signups always receive the 30-day Pro trial. Organic desktop signups — no referral link, promo code, team, or student plan — get no free trial and have a weekly dictation word limit that resets Sunday at 12 a.m. PT.
Word-limit messaging (plan label, words-remaining counter, words-left block) appears only when an organic desktop signup is close to or at the weekly cap, and may briefly disappear after the weekly reset.
Reward credits require an active paid Pro or Student plan purchased through the Wispr Flow website, not the App Store. App Store subscribers and Enterprise members can send invitations and give the 30-day trial, but won't earn rewards.
Referral credit can't be redeemed against a Growth or other team-billed plan: Growth is billed at the team level and isn't priced for referral credit, and referral credit is zeroed out for team and enterprise members.
Enterprise membership takes priority over a personal subscription: if you're attached to an enterprise, you can't earn rewards even with a personal paid subscription.
Each person can only be referred once, by one user.
Rewards activate after your friend meets the activation threshold or upgrades to Pro, then are added to your account balance and applied on an upcoming invoice.
You can send up to 2 reminders per pending invitee, 24 hours apart.
The "Apply referral" tab is available on Mac and Windows only. iOS-only users can apply a code by signing in on desktop or contacting support. Android is not supported.
Referrers stop earning additional credit months once they have earned rewards for 1,000 referred users.
Generated codes are capped at 10 letters; long first names are truncated before the numeric suffix.
Students currently receive a 90-day Student trial that supersedes the 30-day referral trial.
Joining a team grants a separate 14-day team trial and does not revoke your existing personal referral trial.
Email addresses containing an apostrophe (for example, o'brien@example.com) are accepted. Malformed addresses are rejected up front and reported as failed.
Your reward path depends on how you subscribe: website subscribers get credits auto-applied; free-plan users must upgrade to claim earned credits (the modal shows an upgrade link "to claim rewards"); App Store subscribers, team members and admins, and students on the free plan can give the trial but cannot earn credit.
Referrals recorded with no credit (typical for App Store and team referrals) display as 1 month on Mac, Windows, and iOS.
