Wispr Flow Referral Program
Last updated: July 30, 2026
Available on: Mac, Windows, iOS
Share Wispr Flow and earn free Pro time. Friends who sign up through your link get a 30-day Pro trial, and you earn a free month of Pro for each successful referral when you're on an eligible paid plan.
Note: Reward credits require an active paid Pro or Student plan purchased through the Wispr Flow website. App Store subscribers and Enterprise members can share invites but cannot earn credits. See Limitations and notes for the full breakdown.
When to use it
Use the referral program when you want to:
Give a friend, colleague, or family member a 30-day Pro trial.
Earn free months of Pro on your own subscription.
Bank credits while on the free plan to apply when you upgrade.
Apply a referral code a friend gave you after you already signed up (Mac and Windows only).
How it works in Flow
Overview
Share your unique referral link or send an email invitation from inside Flow. When your friend signs up and starts dictating, you both benefit. If you signed up without clicking a referral link, you can enter a referral code directly in the desktop app.
Key behaviors
What your friend gets: A 30-day Pro trial, granted when they sign up through any referral link — regardless of the referrer's plan. Referral signups receive this trial even though desktop signups who don't use a referral link start on the free tier with a weekly word limit.
What you get: One free month of Pro for each successful referral, applied as a credit on your next billing cycle.
Activation threshold: Your reward activates once your friend dictates at least 2,000 words, or when they upgrade to Pro (shown as "Upgraded to Pro" on both iOS and desktop). If the referrer is on Enterprise or an App Store plan, the referral is marked Complete immediately at sign-up, with no word requirement.
Referral statuses: "Not signed up yet," "Under 2000 words," and "Complete." "Complete" means either your friend dictated 2,000+ words and you earned a credit, or you're on an Enterprise or App Store plan and the referral completes at sign-up without a credit. If your friend upgrades to Pro, the status shows "Upgraded to Pro."
Student trial precedence: Students who sign up for a Student plan receive a 90-day trial, which takes precedence over the 30-day referral trial. This describes current behavior and may change in the future.
Team trial interaction: Joining a team may affect your existing referral trial — contact support if it appears shortened.
Best practices
Send invitations by email for the highest conversion — your friend gets a direct link and you can track their status.
Use reminders if your friend hasn't signed up yet. You can send up to 2 reminders per person, with 24 hours between each.
Don't try to refer yourself. Self-referrals are blocked — entering your own email returns "You can't refer yourself" (distinct from the generic "Invite could not be sent" shown for other invalid recipients).
Refer while on the free plan to bank credits. Earned credits are tracked in your account and applied automatically once you upgrade to an eligible paid plan. Credits may take a short time to appear on your billing balance after upgrading.
How to get your referral link
Mac and Windows
Follow these steps to copy your referral link on desktop:
Click the Wispr Flow icon in your menu bar (Mac) or system tray (Windows) to open the app.
Click "Get a free month" in the sidebar — look for the gift icon. If you're on a Team plan, subscribed through the App Store, or a student on the free plan, this is labeled "Refer a friend."
Copy your unique referral link from the modal that appears. You'll see a confirmation when it's copied to your clipboard.
Share the link with friends, family, or colleagues.
Tip: You can also send invitations directly by email — enter up to 10 email addresses separated by commas in the referral modal and click Send. If an invite fails, the notification lists each failed email alongside its specific error.
iOS
Follow these steps to copy or share your referral link on iOS:
Open Wispr Flow and tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top corner.
Tap "Get a free month" or "Refer a friend."
Copy your referral link, or tap "Share Invite" to send it via iMessage, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Mail, or X. Tap "Other apps" for additional sharing options.
Your pending and completed referrals appear on this same screen. If your link doesn't appear, tap the circular arrow icon next to it to refresh.
Tip: The Share Invite sheet includes a "Copy invite" option that copies the full invite message text. The "Copy" button on the main referral screen copies only the link URL.
How to apply a referral code (Mac and Windows)
If you signed up without clicking a referral link, you can enter a referral code directly in the desktop app. This option is only available if you don't already have a referrer.
Open the referral modal using the Mac and Windows steps above.
Click the "Apply referral" tab.
Enter the referral code (for example, "JOHN1"). The code is auto-uppercased as you type.
Submit the code by clicking the submit button or pressing Enter. A brief "Applying referral code..." message appears, followed by a success or error notification. Once applied, the credit is added to your account and appears on an upcoming invoice, and the "Apply referral" tab disappears.
If you submit an empty code, a "Please enter a referral code" notification appears. Other errors (like "User already referred") also appear as notifications.
How to regenerate your referral code
If you've updated your name or want a fresh link, you can regenerate your code from the referral modal.
Open the referral modal using the steps above for your platform.
Go to the Invite tab.
Click the refresh button next to the "Your invite link" label. A notification confirms whether the regeneration succeeded.
Warning: Your old link stops working for new sign-ups after you regenerate. Anyone you previously referred is automatically updated to your new code, so existing referrals are not lost.
Note: The new code is based on your first name in uppercase letters with a number suffix (for example, ALICE1, ALICE2). Accented characters are converted to plain letters (for example, "Élodie" becomes "ELODIE"). If your name has no usable letters, "WISPR" is used as the base.
Examples
Referring a colleague on a Pro plan
Your situation: You have a Pro monthly plan purchased through the Wispr Flow website. You copy your referral link and send it to a colleague.
Result: They sign up and start dictating. Once they hit 2,000 words, your referral status changes to "Complete" and a free month of Pro is applied to your next billing cycle.
Referring a friend while on the free plan
Your situation: You're on the free plan. You share your referral link and your friend signs up.
Result: Your friend gets a 30-day Pro trial. Your referral credit is tracked in your account. When you later upgrade to an eligible Pro plan, your credits are applied automatically to your billing balance (this may take a short time to appear).
Joining a team while on a 30-day referral trial
Your situation: You signed up through a referral link and are partway through your 30-day Pro trial. You then create a team or are added to one by an admin.
Result: Joining a team may affect your existing referral trial. If your trial appears shortened unexpectedly, contact support.
Tapping a referral link on iPhone
Your situation: A friend sends you their referral link and you tap it on your iPhone.
Result: Wispr Flow opens automatically and takes you to the right screen to complete sign-up. You don't need to copy and paste the link or navigate manually.
FAQs
My friend signed up through my link — do they still get a trial?
Yes. Anyone who signs up through a referral link receives a 30-day Pro trial. This is unchanged, even though desktop signups who don't use a referral link start on the free tier with a 2,000-word weekly limit instead of a trial.
Can I apply a referral code on iOS?
Not yet. The iOS app lets you share your own referral link and view your referrals, but it does not have an "Apply referral" option. If a friend has given you their code and you only use Flow on iOS:
Open Wispr Flow on a Mac or Windows computer signed in with the same account, then use the "Apply referral" tab in the referral modal.
Or contact support with your friend's full referral code and we'll apply it to your account.
Can I refer people while on the free plan?
Yes. Your friend receives the 30-day trial, and your earned credits are tracked even before you subscribe. Once you upgrade to an eligible paid plan, your credits are applied automatically.
Is there a limit to how many people I can refer?
You can refer as many people as you like and earn a free month of Pro for each successful referral, up to a cap of 1,000 referred users who have earned you rewards. After that, additional referrals stop earning credit months.
I didn't see the referral step during onboarding
The referral onboarding page is skipped in a few situations: it's replaced by a Team Invite step for eligible team leaders, skipped when you're routed to team consolidation instead, and skipped entirely for users already in an active team or enterprise. You can still access the referral modal any time from the Hub sidebar.
My friend signed up but I didn't get credit
Check these common causes:
They didn't use your link: Referrals are only tracked when someone creates an account through your link or email invitation. If they signed up without one, they can still apply your code on Mac or Windows via the "Apply referral" tab.
They haven't reached 2,000 words yet: Your reward activates once your friend dictates at least 2,000 words. Until then, the referral shows as pending.
They were referred by someone else: A person can only be referred by one user.
You're not on an eligible plan: You need an active paid subscription purchased through the Wispr Flow website. App Store subscribers and Enterprise members can't earn rewards.
You're an App Store subscriber: When someone signs up through your link, you'll see a notification letting you know App Store subscribers can't earn credits from the referral.
How do I track my referrals?
Open the referral screen in the app. On desktop, the modal shows how many months you've earned. On iOS, you'll see a summary of referrals, months earned, and the status of each one. Once you have completed referrals on iOS, a success banner appears above the Past Invites list. Eligible users also see a "Rewards auto-applied" footer.
Can I refer someone who already has a Wispr Flow account?
Email invitations are intended for new users. If the recipient already has an account, was already referred by someone else, or has been reminded recently, you'll see an "Invite could not be sent" message. An existing user who hasn't been referred before can still apply your code using the "Apply referral" tab on Mac or Windows.
My iOS referral link isn't showing up
Tap the circular arrow icon next to your link to refresh it manually. If you see an "Unable to refresh referral link" message, try again in a moment.
Limitations and notes
New users who sign up through a referral link always receive a 30-day Pro trial, regardless of what other new signups receive by default. Desktop signups who don't use a referral link start on the free tier with a 2,000-word weekly limit.
Reward credits require an active paid Pro or Student plan purchased through the Wispr Flow website — not through the App Store.
App Store subscribers and Enterprise members can send invitations and give friends the 30-day trial, but won't earn rewards themselves.
Enterprise membership takes priority over a personal subscription. If you're attached to an enterprise, you can't earn rewards even if you also have a personal paid subscription.
Each person can only be referred once, by one user.
Rewards activate after your friend dictates 2,000 words (or upgrades to Pro), then are added to your account balance and applied to your subscription on an upcoming invoice.
You can send up to 2 reminders per pending invitee, with 24 hours between each reminder.
The "Apply referral" tab is available on Mac and Windows only. iOS-only users can apply a code by signing in on desktop or by contacting support.
Referrers stop earning additional credit months once they have earned rewards for 1,000 referred users.
The generated code is capped at 10 letters; long first names are truncated before the numeric suffix.
Referral notifications belong to the "Milestones & Progress" category — if you mute that category, you won't see them.
On iOS, tapping a referral link opens Wispr Flow directly when the app is installed. If the app isn't installed, the link opens the corresponding web landing page in Safari.
Students currently receive a 90-day Student trial that supersedes the 30-day referral trial. This behavior may change in the future.
