Turn off or remove the Flow keyboard on iPhone
Available on: iOS
Stop using the Flow keyboard in one app, turn off its transcription, remove the keyboard, or remove Wispr Flow entirely. Pick the option that matches what you need.
Switch back to the Apple keyboard for now
Gets the standard keyboard in one app and keeps Flow everywhere else. Nothing is removed.
Tap the globe icon on the Flow keyboard to switch to the next installed keyboard, or tap and hold it to open the iOS keyboard picker.
Select your standard keyboard from the list.
Note: The globe key only appears on some layouts. With Show full QWERTY keyboard on, the keyboard key returns you to Flow's letter layer instead of switching keyboards — use the globe key to leave Flow. iOS resets to the Apple keyboard when you open a new app; tap the globe icon to switch back to Flow.
Turn off transcription but keep the keyboard installed
Turning off Full Access keeps the Flow keyboard in your list but stops it from transcribing.
Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Tap General → Keyboard → Keyboards.
Tap Wispr Flow, then turn off Allow Full Access. Turn it back on in the same place to dictate again.
Note: With Full Access off, dictation simply stops working — there is no in-app warning. Turning it back on takes effect as soon as you return to Flow. In-app Go to Settings buttons open Flow's main iOS Settings page, so navigate to General → Keyboard → Keyboards yourself.
Other ways to stop Flow without removing it
Stop background listening: in Flow's Settings → General → Disable Flow after, pick Never, 60 min, 15 min, 5 min, or Until I turn back on.
Type on Flow's own keyboard: Settings → General → Show full QWERTY keyboard adds a letter layer, with an optional Keyboard Autocorrect toggle.
Remove the Flow keyboard
Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
Tap General → Keyboard → Keyboards.
Swipe left on Wispr Flow, then tap Delete.
The Wispr Flow app stays on your iPhone, and you can still dictate with the Action Button, Lock Screen widget, Control Center, and Siri Shortcuts. Re-add the keyboard anytime from Add New Keyboard.
Remove Wispr Flow completely
Deleting the app alone leaves session and shared data behind, because the app and the keyboard extension share it. Follow this order:
Open the Wispr Flow app, go to your Account screen, tap Sign Out, then confirm in the alert.
Remove the keyboard extension in Settings → General → Keyboard → Keyboards.
Remove any Flow widgets, Control Center buttons, and custom Siri Shortcuts you added.
Delete the Wispr Flow app.
Note: Delete Account, on the same Account screen, is a separate and permanent action that removes your account and data server-side.
Important: Deleting the app does not cancel a paid subscription. Cancel App Store subscriptions first in iOS Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions.
FAQs
Does removing the keyboard delete my transcripts or dictionary?
No. Signing out clears your session on the device, so back up anything important first if you want to keep local transcripts.
Can I still dictate on my iPhone without the keyboard?
Yes, with these methods:
Action Button: requires iPhone 15 Pro/Pro Max, any iPhone 16, or any iPhone 17 including Air.
Control Center control: requires iOS 18 or later.
Lock Screen widget and Live Activity: require Live Activities to be allowed in iOS settings.
Siri Shortcuts: no version requirement.
The standard keyboard keeps appearing instead of Flow
Flow switches to the system keyboard for number pads, phone fields, decimal pads, email-address fields, and numbers-and-punctuation fields. After dictating from the keyboard in another app, use the iOS edge-swipe gesture to return.
Does removing the keyboard on my iPhone affect my Mac or Windows setup?
No. Keyboard setup is per device, so your desktop dictation is unaffected.
