Connect Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client to Wispr Flow

Last updated: September 19, 2026

Available on: Mac and Windows. Requires Notetaker and MCP access on your Wispr Flow account.

Connect Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP-compatible client to search your meeting notes without copying transcripts. The connection is read-only: clients cannot create, edit or delete your meetings or notes, and cannot access your dictation history.

Before connecting

  • Use the account that holds your notes. Personal and work accounts have separate content. Authorize the correct Wispr Flow account in your browser.
  • Check cloud access. MCP needs Private Cloud Sync, also described as Dictation Cloud Storage in access messages. If you turned it off, follow the prompt to enable it. Organization policies may lock it; see data and privacy preferences.
  • Check organization restrictions. An admin can manage Notetaker, cloud access and MCP separately. Enabling one does not override the others.
  • Check HIPAA restrictions. MCP is unavailable on accounts covered by a personal or organization HIPAA BAA. Turning on cloud storage does not bypass that restriction.

Connect Claude or ChatGPT

  1. Open Wispr Flow Settings → MCP, which may be labeled AI Tools (MCP).
  2. Choose Add to Claude or Add to ChatGPT. The connector page opens in your default browser.
  3. Sign in with your Wispr Flow account and authorize access. There is no API key or token to paste.
  4. Confirm Wispr Flow appears as authorized in your client’s MCP server or connector list.
  5. Start a chat and ask about a recent meeting, such as “Summarize my last three calls with the design team.” Check that the answer refers to your actual meetings.

Claude: enable Wispr Flow for the conversation using the chat box’s + → Connectors → Wispr Flow toggle. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner may need to add the connector for the organization first; then connect from Claude’s Settings → Connectors.

Connect another MCP client

  1. In Flow’s MCP settings, copy the Server URL under All other apps.
  2. Add that URL as a remote MCP server in your client. The location varies; follow the client’s documentation.
  3. Complete the browser sign-in to authorize your Wispr Flow account.
  4. Confirm authorization in the client, then test a question about a recent meeting.

The Notetaker MCP banner’s Set up action and a Go to MCP shortcut can also take you to setup. If these are absent, use Settings or check access with your administrator.

What the connection can read

ContentExamples
MeetingsSearch and read summaries, notes, transcripts, refined transcripts, related Notetaker chat history and attendees.
Shared notesResolve a pasted shared-note link that your account already has permission to read.
CalendarSearch events, resolve a calendar or conference link to its event, and find the recording associated with that event.

Clients read from your Flow account, so Flow does not need to stay open locally. Each new client needs browser authorization. You can use the same Server URL with multiple clients; remove Wispr Flow from a client’s connector settings whenever you want to disconnect it.

Turning off Notetaker for an organization blocks new meetings; meetings recorded before the change are unaffected by that setting. MCP must still be allowed separately, and retention policies continue to apply.

Transcripts removed by a retention policy are unavailable through MCP. Deleting a meeting in Flow is permanent; the connector cannot restore its data. See meeting-data retention.

Fix connection or missing-note problems

What you seeWhat to do
Connected, but no matching notesCheck the authorized account, cloud access and the connector’s per-chat toggle. Try a specific meeting or date.
Connection cancelled or authorization errorConnect again and approve access in the browser. Check the client’s connector settings for the exact error.
Too many requestsPause repeated queries, wait about a minute, then retry.
Cloud Sync must be enabledEnable it if you control the setting. If the organization locks it, use the access request offered and contact your admin; requesting access does not itself change policy.
Unavailable for HIPAA-covered accountsCloud storage cannot fix this. Review the agreement with the appropriate account owner or organization administrator; see managing a signed BAA. A personal BAA change does not remove an organization’s BAA restriction.
MCP settings hidden, or connector unavailable because the organization turned it offAsk an admin to check MCP and Notetaker access. Only admins can change organization policy.
Enterprise IP-allowlist denialContact your admin about the permitted network.
Banned or deleted accountContact support.

For a persistent failure, contact support with the AI client, platform, failing step and exact error. To search both Wispr Flow and an older notetaker, follow the switching-notetakers guide.
