Connect Claude, ChatGPT or another MCP client to Wispr Flow

Last updated: October 7, 2026

Available on: Mac and Windows. Requires Notetaker and MCP access on your Wispr Flow account.

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor or another MCP-compatible client to search your meeting notes without copying transcripts. Access is read-only: clients cannot create, edit or delete meetings or notes, or read dictation history or Notetaker chat history.

Before connecting

  • Use the account that holds your notes. Personal and work accounts have separate content, so authorize the correct Wispr Flow account in your browser.

  • Cloud access: If Flow prompts you to enable Cloud Sync, follow the prompt. The setting is labelled Dictation cloud storage in Settings and Private Cloud Sync in hub prompts. Organization policies may lock it.

  • Organization policies: Notetaker, cloud access and MCP are separate controls; enabling one does not override the others. MCP is on by default, and solo accounts have no organization MCP policy. Turning off organization Notetaker blocks new recordings, not existing MCP reads; retention still applies.

  • HIPAA: Personal or organization HIPAA BAAs block meeting, calendar and account-info access, regardless of cloud storage. Review managing a signed BAA with the account owner or admin; revocation lifts only that agreement's restriction, not an organization's separate BAA.

Connect your client

Note: Email-and-password sign-ins cannot complete MCP authorization — use Google, Apple, Microsoft or enterprise SSO, and finish browser sign-in within 5 minutes. Authorization is account-wide and includes existing content, without per-meeting consent; no API key or token is needed.

  1. Open Wispr Flow Settings → MCP, then follow the steps for your client below.

Tip: You can also open MCP settings from the floating notepad: choose Connect to your AI tools in the More actions (⋯) menu. This item appears only until your account has connected an MCP client, and only when your plan and organization allow MCP.

Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini or Cursor

Use the card for your client:

  1. Choose Add to Claude, Add to ChatGPT, Add to Gemini or Add to Cursor. The connection page opens in your default browser; Gemini opens gemini.google.com/apps, and Cursor opens the Wispr Flow listing on the Cursor marketplace.

  2. In Claude, enable Wispr Flow for the conversation with the chat box's + → Connectors → Wispr Flow toggle. On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner may need to add the connector for the organization first; then connect from Claude's Settings → Connectors.

Another MCP client

Add Wispr Flow as a remote server:

  1. Copy the URL under All other apps: by clicking the field or Copy server URL. The read-only Server URL is https://api.wisprflow.ai/connect/mcp.

  2. Add that URL as a remote MCP server in your client, pasted exactly and without a trailing slash. The location varies; follow the client's documentation.

Authorize and test

  1. Sign in with your Wispr Flow account and authorize access.

  2. Confirm Wispr Flow appears as authorized in your client's MCP server or connector list.

  3. Start a chat and ask about a recent meeting. If the answer refers to your actual meetings, you're connected.

What the connection can read

Clients can read meeting summaries, notes, transcripts, attendees and tasks; Scratchpad notes; calendar events and linked recordings; upcoming meetings with available pre-reads; recurring meetings; shared-note links you can access; and account identity. They can also resolve calendar or conference links to events.

Shared links still require your own meeting-access permissions. Transcripts require ownership or an email invitation, plus the owner's organization allowing transcript sharing; domain/team or anyone-with-link access gives summaries only.

When enabled for your account, Scratchpad access works without Cloud Sync, including for HIPAA-covered accounts; organization MCP and Scratchpad restrictions still apply.

Note: If your account belongs to an enterprise, notes, meetings and transcripts opened through an MCP client appear in your organization's audit logs, where admins can see that the note was viewed and that the view came from an MCP client.

Warning: Retention deletes transcripts and audio, not summaries, My Notes or tasks, and starts only when you or your organization sets a retention period. Deleted transcripts are unavailable through MCP and cannot be restored from an offline device. Deleting a meeting is permanent; MCP cannot restore it. See meeting-data retention.

Manage connections

Clients read from your Flow account, so Flow does not need to stay open locally. Each new client needs its own browser authorization, and the same Server URL works with multiple clients.

Once Flow has seen a client connect, that tool's card replaces Add to… with a … menu holding Reconnect, which reopens its setup page. The menu reflects past setup, not current access. To disconnect a client, remove Wispr Flow in that client's connector settings; Flow has no disconnect control.

Changes to MCP, Notetaker, HIPAA or cloud access — including revocation — can take a few minutes to apply. If Flow is offline when you return from your browser, the cards keep what they last showed.

Fix connection or missing-note problems

Connected, but no matching notes

Search matches titles, summaries and notes, not transcripts; attendee-email filters only find recordings linked to calendar events.

  1. Check the authorized account, cloud access and the connector's per-chat toggle.

  2. Ask again naming a specific meeting or date. Request transcripts explicitly; long notes and transcripts arrive in portions, while summaries are complete.

Meetings recorded while Cloud Sync was off can remain missing after re-enabling it.

Answers about meetings with no notes

Some meetings exist without recorded content, and your client says so directly instead of reporting a failure:

  • A calendar event Flow didn't record: the answer gives the meeting's title and time and states that no recording or notes exist for it.

  • A one-off meeting: asking what was discussed last time it met returns that the meeting isn't recurring, so there is no earlier occurrence to summarize.

A not-found error instead means the meeting or calendar event isn't available to your account — check the authorized account and the meeting or date you named.

Calendar events missing from answers

If a connected calendar needs reauthorization, Flow stops returning that provider's events, attendees, meeting times and pre-reads through MCP until you reconnect it. Only that provider is hidden — if Google needs reauthorization, Outlook events still appear — and nothing is deleted; meeting notes and recordings stay available.

  1. Reconnect the affected calendar in Wispr Flow settings.

  2. Ask again in your client; the provider's calendar data reappears automatically.

Connection cancelled or authorization error

Expired access prompts reconnection, and an expired or failed setup attempt can end at the dashboard without connecting.

  1. Connect again from the client and approve access in the browser.

  2. Check the client's connector settings for the exact error.

What you see

What to do

“Cloud Sync must be enabled to use this feature.”

Enable it if unlocked; otherwise request access and contact your admin, since requests do not change policy.

“This feature is not available for HIPAA-covered accounts.”

Review the BAA guidance under Before connecting.

MCP settings hidden, or “MCP access has been disabled by your organization's administrator.”

Settings can also be hidden while access loads; otherwise ask an admin to check MCP and Notetaker access.

“Scratchpad access has been disabled by your organization's administrator.”

Ask your admin to check Scratchpad access.

Meeting or calendar event not found

Confirm the authorized account, then ask again naming the meeting or date.

Too many requests

Pause repeated queries, wait about a minute, then retry.

Enterprise IP-allowlist denial

Connect from an approved network or contact your admin, then retry.

Banned or deleted account

Contact support.

Service can be temporarily unavailable without your exceeding a limit, and other tools may still work; try again later, then repeat the meeting test above.

Still need help?

Contact support if the meeting test still fails, if an error says retrying with the same inputs will not help, or if your account is banned or deleted. Include the AI client, platform and device, the failing step, the exact error and what you tried. Report an issue attaches app logs automatically, so you do not need to paste them; you can attach one image up to 10 MB.
