Install Wispr Flow on Android

Install Wispr Flow from Google Play, sign in, and enable the permissions that let the Flow Bubble record speech and insert text into other apps.

Download the app

  1. Open the Google Play Store and search for Wispr Flow.

  2. Choose the listing with the Wispr logo and Wispr Inc as the developer.

  3. Tap Install, then open Wispr Flow. If Flow requires an update before continuing, install it from Google Play.

If the app does not appear or cannot be installed, check Android system requirements.

Sign in and complete the introduction

  1. Review the introduction, tap Next, then Give it a try!

  2. Sign in with Google, Apple, Microsoft, SSO, or email and password — use the same method you used to create your account or sign in on another device.

  3. For SSO, choose Continue with SSO, enter your email address, and tap Open Wispr Flow on the confirmation page.

  4. Complete language setup and the tap-to-dictate and press-and-hold tutorials.

Note: Sign-in methods cannot be switched after account creation.

If you register with email, open the verification email; Flow checks for verification while you complete it in your inbox. Check spam and trash, or use the resend option if it does not arrive.

Allow the required permissions

  1. Microphone: tap Allow when Android asks.

  2. Display over other apps: tap Open Settings and enable this permission for Wispr Flow. Flow returns to the foreground after you enable it.

  3. Accessibility: finish the walkthrough, tap Open settings, tap Agree on the disclosure, then find Wispr Flow in Android's Accessibility settings and enable its main service — not the separate accessibility shortcut. Use the table below if you cannot find it.

  4. Privacy: choose your preference on the Your data is safe screen, then tap Next.

  5. Battery: allow the battery optimization exemption so Flow stays running. You can skip it, but your device may close Flow more often. On Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO, enable Autostart and set battery use to No restrictions.

  6. Notifications: tap Allow notifications so Flow can alert you to interruptions, including its accessibility service stopping.

  7. Tap Finish.

If an "Oops, something isn't right" screen appears, return to Accessibility settings and turn the shortcut off. Tapping Not now on the accessibility disclosure returns you to the preceding screen; you still need the permission to insert text. If you leave setup, your progress is saved. Check your first dictation

Open an app such as Notes or Messages and tap an editable text field to open the keyboard. The Flow Bubble appears; tap it to start recording and tap again to stop, or press and hold, then release to submit. The bubble does not normally appear on Flow's Dashboard, and it is hidden in banking and financial apps and in password, number, and phone inputs. An internet connection is required. Warning: Do not sign out to troubleshoot — signing out deletes transcripts stored on your device.
