Import your Otter transcripts into Wispr Flow Notetaker

Last updated: August 27, 2026

Available on: Mac (Personal and Pro plans; not available for Enterprise organizations)

Bring past Otter.ai meetings into Wispr Flow's Notetaker. Imported meetings appear alongside your recorded ones with speaker names, summaries, and an Otter badge, so your full meeting history lives in one place.

Before you start

  • Wispr Flow open and signed in on your Mac.

  • An Otter.ai account containing the conversations you want to import.

  • The Otter export zip file, or its unzipped folder (step 4 below covers how to get it).

How to import your Otter transcripts

  1. Open Wispr Flow and go to Settings → Data.

  2. Click the import card to open the meeting import modal.

  3. Select the Otter tile.

  4. Follow the in-app link to Otter's export instructions, and export your conversations as TXT with speaker names and timestamps. Otter emails you a zip file when the export is ready.

  5. Drag and drop the zip file or unzipped folder onto the import area, or click Browse to select it.

  6. Confirm the import started: Settings → Data shows "Adding Otter transcripts in the background · N remaining" until it finishes.

Note: Drop the same zip file or folder again to resume a paused import — already-imported meetings are skipped.

What you'll see after importing

  • Otter badge: Each imported meeting row carries an Otter badge, distinguishing it from recorded meetings.

  • Summary heading: Summaries from Otter imports appear under a "Summary (Otter AI)" heading.

  • Speaker names: Speaker names from the Otter export are preserved individually rather than grouped together.

FAQs

What happens if I close the import modal while importing?

The import continues in the background. Track progress in Settings → Data.

I see an error about the file being too large or too many conversations. What should I do?

Select fewer conversations in Otter — for example, the past month — and import in multiple rounds.

The import says "not signed in." What does that mean?

You were signed out of Wispr Flow. Sign back in and drop the file again to resume.

Error messages explained

Invalid or unreadable export

The file isn't a valid Otter TXT export. Re-export from Otter as TXT with speaker names and timestamps, then try again.

File too large

The export exceeds the supported size. Export a smaller selection of conversations and import in batches.

Too many conversations

The export holds more conversations than one import allows. Split it into smaller batches in Otter and import each separately.

No transcripts found

No recognizable transcripts were in the file or folder. Confirm you exported as TXT and that the export isn't empty.

Upload timed out

Check your internet connection and drop the file again to retry.

Another import is already running

An import is already in progress. Wait for it to finish or cancel it, then start the Otter import.

Limitations and notes

  • Otter import is available on Mac only; Windows support is not yet available.

  • Otter import is not available for Enterprise organizations.

  • Only TXT exports with speaker names and timestamps are supported; other formats (PDF, SRT) produce an error.

  • Only one import can run at a time.

  • Imported meetings sit alongside recorded meetings in Notetaker but are separate from live recordings.
