Switching to Wispr Flow: Keep All Your Notetakers in One Place (MCP)

Works with: Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible AI tools. Requires Notetaker and Cloud Sync on your Wispr Flow account.

Moving from Granola, Otter, or Fireflies? Nothing to migrate. Connect Wispr Flow alongside your old notetaker so your AI tool searches new and old meetings from one chat, keep the old connector as long as you need its back catalog, then remove it.

Why connect both at once

  • No migration. Your old notes stay where they are — MCP reads them in place, with nothing to export or import.

  • One search box. Claude or ChatGPT can pull from every notetaker you've connected, old and new.

  • Switch at your own pace. Use Wispr Flow for new meetings and keep the old tool for history only.

  • Read-only and safe. Every notetaker MCP below is read-only and uses browser sign-in, so connected tools can read your meetings but can't change or delete anything.

Step 1: Connect Wispr Flow

Confirm the basics in Wispr Flow first:

  • Notetaker is enabled. Open Wispr Flow and go to Settings → MCP. If that tab isn't there, Notetaker isn't available on your account yet.

  • Cloud Sync is on. Connected tools read your notes through Cloud Sync; with it off, the connection completes but no notes come through.

  • You're signed in to the right account. Personal and work accounts are separate and return different results.

Note: The Wispr Flow MCP gives your AI tools access to your meeting notes, summaries, and briefs — not your dictation history.

Then connect it to your AI tool using the Wispr Flow connection URL: https://api.wisprflow.ai/connect/mcp

Claude

  1. Go to Settings → Connectors.

  2. Click the + button, then Add custom connector.

  3. Paste the connection URL, then click Add.

  4. Click Connect and sign in to Wispr Flow.

  5. Toggle Wispr Flow on per chat using the + button → Connectors. Wispr Flow appears in that list once it's connected.

ChatGPT

Add Wispr Flow to ChatGPT, then sign in when prompted.

Cursor, VS Code, and other tools

Add a remote MCP server pointing to https://api.wisprflow.ai/connect/mcp, then complete the browser sign-in.

Note: After browser sign-in, a success screen reads "You're all set" and names the connected app (e.g. "Slack is connected."), then redirects you back to your AI tool. Other confirmation screens — "One more step", "Connection cancelled", and "Something went wrong" — are covered in the FAQs.

Step 2: Keep your old notetaker connected

Add your previous notetaker as a second connector in the same AI tool, exactly the way you added Wispr Flow: add a custom or remote connector, paste the URL, and sign in through the browser.

Each requires a paid plan on your AI tool for custom connectors and signs in through the browser, so there are no API keys to copy. Steps vary slightly by provider; official guides are linked below.

Note: Turn both connectors on in your chat. In Claude, click the + at the bottom left, choose Connectors, and toggle on both Wispr Flow and your old notetaker.

Step 3: Search across both

AI tools often default to a single source. When you need history, name both tools in your prompt:

  • "Search both my Wispr Flow and Granola notes for the pricing discussion with Acme."

  • "Compare the action items from last week's standup in Wispr Flow with the same meeting in Otter a month ago."

  • "Find the meeting where we set the launch date, and check Wispr Flow and Fireflies."

For new meetings, ask normally — Wispr Flow will have them.

Step 4: Retire the old notetaker

Once your recent meetings all live in Wispr Flow and you no longer need the old back catalog:

  1. Open your AI tool's connector settings.

  2. Remove or disconnect the old notetaker connector.

  3. Keep Wispr Flow connected — you're fully switched over.

You can also leave both connected indefinitely to keep the history one search away.

FAQs

One tool's notes never show up

Confirm that connector is toggled on for the conversation and that you're signed in to the account holding those notes.

It only searches one notetaker

Name both explicitly in your prompt, as shown in Step 3.

Wispr Flow connects but returns nothing

Check that Cloud Sync is on in Wispr Flow settings and that you authorized with the right account.

Can the connected AI tool see my dictations?

No. Your dictation history is not accessible through the MCP connection.

What does it mean if the confirmation page says "One more step"?

Calendar access wasn't granted during sign-in. Go back to your AI tool, remove the connector, and add it again — this time, approve the calendar permission when prompted in the browser.

The confirmation page says "Something went wrong" or "Connection cancelled" — what now?

Try connecting again from your AI tool. If the error persists, contact support@wisprflow.ai and mention which app you were connecting and which AI tool you're using.
