Import past meetings from Granola or Otter

Available on: Mac and Windows desktop app. Sign in to your Wispr Flow account before importing.

Bring past Granola or Otter meetings into Notetaker, including exported notes, summaries, and transcripts.

Request your export

Granola imports from a CSV file, not a direct account connection. For Otter, Flow prefers TXT and uses SRT when TXT is missing or unreadable. Split oversized exports into smaller batches.

Granola

Limits: 50 MB and 5,000 rows; ZIPs allow 512 entries and 64 CSV files with identical header lines.

Open Granola's Settings → Profile → Generate CSV.
Download the emailed .csv or .zip containing it; delivery may take a few hours.

Resaving alone does not invalidate a CSV; keep UTF-8 encoding and the document_id and document_created columns.

Otter

Limits: 50 MB zipped, 200 MB unpacked, 8 MB per transcript, and 8,192 transcript and summary files — around 4,000 conversations.

Open My Notes in Otter.
Scroll until every conversation you want has loaded; unloaded conversations are excluded.
Follow Otter's bulk-export instructions to export as TXT with speaker names and timestamps.
Download the emailed ZIP, or use its unzipped folder.

The file picker accepts ZIPs only; drag an unzipped folder in instead of browsing for it.

Import into Flow

Warning: For individuals without an organization or a signed HIPAA BAA, imports sync to Wispr once account settings load — even with Dictation cloud storage off, which defaults to on. A personal or organizational HIPAA BAA blocks syncing; organization Cloud Sync restrictions or Zero Data Retention locks can also block it, so confirm with support that they apply to your imports before relying on them. When syncing is blocked, imports stay on your device, and retained transcripts can upload later if syncing becomes permitted.

Note: Only one import runs at a time, including transcripts still being added in the background — finish or cancel it first. Choosing Granola cancels an active Granola import, but never an Otter import. Closing the import window does not stop processing.

Open Flow's Settings → Notetaker, or the Import your meeting notes card on Notetaker's My Notes tab.
Click Import under Import your meeting notes.
Choose Granola or Otter.
Drop your export into the upload area, or click to browse for a file.
Keep Flow open until Upload complete! appears.

Meetings appear before transcripts finish adding. Settings → Notetaker shows progress, the last import date, and remaining transcripts.

What is imported

Dates and titles: Granola keeps original dates; Otter uses the summary's date, otherwise the import time. Missing titles fall back to the transcript filename, then "Untitled", which untitled Granola meetings also use.
Summaries and notes: Summaries appear under Summary (Granola AI) or Summary (Otter AI), with Granola notes separate. Otter summaries need a matching _summary.txt beside the transcript; unpaired summaries and summaries over 256 KB are omitted.
Transcripts: Otter keeps recognizable speaker names and exported timestamps; a TXT file with no recognizable headers imports as unlabeled text without original timings, as Granola transcripts do.
Text only: Imports contain no meeting audio, playback, calendar link, or attendee list, and Flow does not re-process them.

Cancel or resume an import

Warning: Signing out stops active imports, including background work, and a selected file cannot carry over to another account. Re-importing restores meetings you deleted on your device.

Click Cancel in Settings → Notetaker to stop an active import.
Confirm with Yes, cancel.
Click Import again and re-drop the export to finish; already-imported meetings stay, and a fresh Granola CSV is also safe.

Re-importing the same export avoids duplicates and preserves existing transcripts: existing notes or summaries protect both fields, the title, and the date, and only meetings with both fields empty are refreshed. Renaming in Otter creates a separate meeting on re-export; renaming in Granola does not.

After quitting Flow: Transcripts resume when you reopen it, once active dictation ends. Re-drop the same export if meetings had not finished importing.
"Import paused. It will resume automatically.": Follows an interrupted upload, shutdown, or connection or service problem. Retries can stop, so use Try again to reopen the import and re-drop the export.
A selected file that was never imported: Expires after 30 minutes, signing out, or restarting Flow. Select it again.

Fix an import error

Problem	What to do
Wrong, empty, or unreadable export	Re-download the Granola CSV/ZIP or re-export Otter as TXT.
Granola columns do not match, or ZIP has no CSV	Re-download the original export from your Granola email.
Size or volume limit exceeded	Export fewer meetings per batch, within the provider's limits.
Upload timed out or expired	Re-select the export; the pending selection expired, not your connection.
Sign-in required	Sign back in, then re-drop the export.
Import failed with no meetings added	Try the same export again.

Flow imports the remaining meetings and reports how many were skipped. Granola skips malformed rows, missing IDs, invalid dates, and content over 256 KB per summary, 2 MB per notes field, or 8 MB per transcript; Otter skips empty, unreadable, non-UTF-8, or oversized transcripts. After each remedy, repeat the import steps and check Notetaker for the expected meetings and skipped count.
