Import your past meetings from Granola or Otter into Notetaker

Bring your meeting history from Granola or Otter.ai into Notetaker. Imported meetings sit alongside the ones you record, keeping their original dates, summaries, notes, and a badge showing where they came from.

Before you start

Wispr Flow open and signed in on Mac or Windows.
An export file from Granola or Otter. Both platforms email the export and can take a few hours, so request it first.

How to import

Go to Settings → Data and click Import. On Mac, the "Import your meeting notes" banner in the Notetaker hub opens the same flow.
Choose your platform on the "Where would you like to upload from?" step.
Request your export using the steps below for your platform.
Reopen Settings → Data when the export email arrives and drag the file onto the drop zone, or click to browse. The Upload button on the "Finish uploading" banner reopens the same picker.
Wait for "Upload complete!" — your meetings are now in Notetaker.

Note: Once the import starts, closing the modal or the window leaves it running in the background.

Exporting from Granola

Go to Settings → Profile → Generate CSV in Granola.
Wait for the export email. This can take a few hours.
Drop the .csv file, or the .zip it arrived in, into Flow.

Each import accepts up to 50 MB and 5,000 meetings. Export in smaller batches if yours is larger.

Exporting from Otter

Open My Notes in Otter and scroll until every conversation you want has loaded. Conversations that have not loaded are left out.
Bulk export your conversations as TXT with speaker names and timestamps.
Drop the .zip file or its unzipped folder into Flow when the export email arrives.

Each import accepts up to 50 MB and around 4,000 conversations. Use TXT; SRT files are read only when a TXT transcript cannot be read.

The "Finish uploading" reminder

After you view a provider's export instructions, a "Finish uploading from Granola" or "Finish uploading from Otter" banner appears at the top of the Notetaker hub, so you don't have to remember to come back when the export email lands hours later.

Skip: hides the banner for 2 days; after two skips it stops appearing. Users with Granola installed still see the standard Granola import invite.
Reset: revisiting the export instructions, or re-selecting Granola or Otter, clears the skip count and shows a fresh prompt in place of any previous banner.
Granola priority: when prompts for both providers are active, the Granola prompt is shown.
Clears automatically: the banner disappears permanently once your import completes, and expires on its own after 30 days.
Per-device: the reminder is stored on this machine only and does not sync to your other devices. Signing out clears it, so a different account on the same machine won't see your prompt.

What you'll see after importing

Source badge: each imported meeting carries a Granola or Otter logo on its avatar.
Original dates: meetings sort into your history on the day they happened, not the day you imported them.
Summaries and notes: Granola summaries appear once in the Summary tab under "Summary (Granola AI)", Otter summaries under "Summary (Otter AI)". Notes you wrote in Granola land in the notes area.
Speaker names: Otter transcripts keep them; Granola imports arrive without them.
Meetings first, transcripts after: meetings appear when the import finishes, then transcripts sync in the background. A transcript that is not there yet is still on its way.

FAQs

Can I import from Granola and Otter at the same time?

No. One import runs at a time, and Flow names the import already running. Let it finish or cancel it, then start the next.

Does importing bring over my meeting audio?

No. Neither platform provides audio files, so imported meetings have no playback. You get the notes, summary, and transcript text.

Will importing twice create duplicates?

No. Meetings already imported are skipped, so dropping the same export again is safe and is how you finish an import that stopped partway. Edits you've made to summaries or notes in Flow are preserved. One exception: a conversation renamed in Otter and re-exported imports again as a separate meeting.

I quit Flow in the middle of an import. What now?

Transcript syncing resumes on its own next time you open Flow. If the import had not finished committing meetings locally, drop the same file in again to continue from where it stopped.

Some of my meetings were skipped. Why?

A meeting is skipped when its record is damaged, missing a date, or unusually large; the rest of the file still imports. Flow reports how many were skipped when the import completes.

My selected file was cleared before I imported it.

A file selected but not yet imported is held for 30 minutes, and is cleared if you sign out or restart Flow. Select the same file again to continue.

I had a Granola import in progress from before. What happened to it?

Granola import is now CSV-only, so any unfinished earlier import was cancelled along with its remaining transcript downloads. Export a fresh CSV from Granola (Settings → Profile → Generate CSV) and drop it into Settings → Data → Import; meetings you already have are skipped.

Error messages explained

"That isn't a Granola export" or "That doesn't look like an Otter export"

The file is not the expected export. For Granola, choose the .csv or .zip from your Granola email. For Otter, drop the downloaded zip or its unzipped folder.

"That file's columns don't match a Granola export"

The CSV was edited or produced another way. Re-download the original export from your Granola email without opening or resaving it.

Size and volume errors

Messages about a file over 50 MB, unpacking past the size limit, or holding more rows or conversations than one import allows all mean the same thing: export fewer conversations at a time and import in batches.

"No transcripts could be read from this export" or "No meetings could be read from this file"

The export is empty or in an unexpected format. For Otter, re-export as TXT with speaker names and timestamps. For Granola, re-download the export from your email.

"That file's text couldn't be read" or "couldn't be opened"

The file was damaged in transit or while unzipping. Re-download it from the export email and try again.

"Sign in to Wispr Flow to import your meetings"

You were signed out. Sign back in and drop the file again.

"Import paused. It will resume automatically."

Transcripts could not finish syncing, usually a connection issue. Flow retries on its own, and you can use Retry on the banner. Meetings already imported are unaffected.

Limitations and notes

Importing works in the desktop app only, not on iOS or Android.
Granola import uses a CSV export file only. Direct Granola account connection is not supported.
One import runs at a time, across both platforms.
Imported meetings have no audio, no calendar link, and no attendee list.
Granola exports transcripts as unlabeled text, so they arrive without speaker names.
An existing transcript in Flow is never overwritten by an import.
Transcripts sync to the cloud only if Dictation cloud storage is on; with it off, imported meetings stay on your device.
Imported meetings are not live recordings and are not re-processed by Flow.
