Switching to Wispr Flow: Keep All Your Notetakers in One Place (MCP)

Available on: Mac, Windows. Works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible AI tools. Requires Notetaker and Private Cloud Sync on your Wispr Flow account.

Moving from Granola, Otter, or Fireflies? Connect Wispr Flow alongside your old notetaker so your AI tool searches new and old meetings from one chat. Keep the old connector as long as you need its back catalog, then remove it.

Why connect both at once

  • One search box. Claude or ChatGPT pulls from every notetaker you've connected, old and new.

  • Switch at your own pace. Use Wispr Flow for new meetings and the old tool for history only.

  • Read-only and safe. The Wispr Flow connector reaches your meeting notes, summaries, and briefs — not your dictation history.

Step 1: Connect Wispr Flow

In Wispr Flow, open Settings → AI Tools (MCP) and confirm three things:

  • Notetaker is enabled. Business and Enterprise organizations get Notetaker once an admin enables it in the admin portal (Settings → Organization → Notetaker → Enable Notetaker now); on September 30, 2026 it turns on for every organization unless an admin has disabled it first.

  • Private Cloud Sync is on. Connected tools read your notes through it. If you turned it off, click Turn on Private Cloud Sync.

  • You're signed in to the right account. Personal and work accounts are separate and return different results.

Private Cloud Sync when your organization or a BAA controls it

  • Organization disabled it: admins see a Turn on Private Cloud Sync button that opens the Admin Portal; other members see only Request access, which notifies admins and confirms with "Access requested" without changing the setting.

  • Organization has a signed HIPAA BAA: admins see Manage in Admin Portal; other members see only Request access.

  • You personally signed a HIPAA BAA: Private Cloud Sync is locked; the only actions are View signed BAA and Revoke BAA.

  • Notetaker is a separate org setting: an admin can disable Notetaker organization-wide even with Private Cloud Sync on, and can also hide the AI Tools (MCP) page for all members. Only admins can change org Private Cloud Sync policy or manage the org BAA.

On the AI Tools (MCP) page, click Add to Claude or Add to ChatGPT on the matching card to open the connector in your default browser, or use All other apps to copy the Server URL. Clicking the field or the copy icon copies it. More AI tools are coming soon.

Claude

  1. Go to Settings → Connectors in Claude.

  2. Click the + button, then Add custom connector.

  3. Paste the Server URL, then click Add.

  4. Click Connect and sign in to Wispr Flow.

  5. Toggle Wispr Flow on per chat with the + button → Connectors, where Wispr Flow appears once connected.

ChatGPT

Add Wispr Flow to ChatGPT, then sign in when prompted.

Cursor, VS Code, and other tools

Add a remote MCP server pointing to the Server URL from All other apps, then complete the browser sign-in.

Step 2: Keep your old notetaker connected

Add your previous notetaker as a second connector in the same AI tool, exactly as you added Wispr Flow: add a custom or remote connector, paste the URL, and sign in through the browser. Custom connectors require a paid plan on your AI tool; there are no API keys to copy.

Using a different notetaker? Search its help center for "MCP" — most offer a hosted remote connection URL you can add the same way.

Note: Turn both connectors on in your chat. In Claude, click the + at the bottom left, choose Connectors, and toggle on both Wispr Flow and your old notetaker.

Step 3: Search across both

AI tools often default to a single source, so name both tools in your prompt when you need history:

  • "Search both my Wispr Flow and Granola notes for the pricing discussion with Acme."

  • "Compare the action items from last week's standup in Wispr Flow with the same meeting in Otter a month ago."

  • "Find the meeting where we set the launch date, and check Wispr Flow and Fireflies."

For new meetings, ask normally — Wispr Flow will have them.

Step 4: Retire the old notetaker

Once your recent meetings all live in Wispr Flow and you no longer need the old back catalog:

  1. Open your AI tool's connector settings.

  2. Remove or disconnect the old notetaker connector.

  3. Keep Wispr Flow connected — you're fully switched over.

You can also leave both connected indefinitely to keep the history one search away.

FAQs

One tool's notes never show up

Confirm that connector is toggled on for the conversation and that you're signed in to the account holding those notes.

It only searches one notetaker

Name both explicitly in your prompt — see Step 3.

Wispr Flow connects but returns nothing

Check that Private Cloud Sync is on and that you authorized with the right account — see Step 1.

If your account is locked by policy — organization-disabled or HIPAA BAA — turning Private Cloud Sync back on reverts to off, and tool calls are refused with "Cloud Sync must be enabled to use this feature." HIPAA-locked accounts get a HIPAA-specific refusal. Revoking a personal HIPAA BAA may not restore access if an org-level BAA is still active.

An enterprise domain policy can block Notetaker for specific meetings; a modal then lists the matched attendee domains. A failed or offline policy check never blocks recording.

Your organization may also add an automated in-meeting consent notice, which an admin can disable organization-wide.

If your calendar state reads as "unknown," the connector catalog is still loading — this is not the same as disconnected.

Can the connected AI tool see my dictations?

No. The Wispr Flow connector has no access to your dictations — only meeting transcripts and notes.
