How to leave a team or enterprise, and what happens to your Flow Pro
Last updated: September 21, 2026
Available on: Mac and Windows (Settings → Team). On iOS your team benefits apply but there is no team management UI; Android has no team controls. Removal is always done by a team admin in the web Admin Portal (admin.wisprflow.ai), by your IT team via your identity provider, or by Wispr support.
If you signed up with your work email and landed on a company team you never joined, your organization likely has domain auto-add or directory provisioning turned on. Here's how to get removed, what happens to your personal Flow Pro, and which organization settings can block you.
Important: Joining a team closes your individual subscription and moves billing to the team — it is not paused. Leaving does not restore it; you resubscribe as a new individual purchase.
How you were added
How you joined determines who can remove you.
How you joined | Who removes you |
Domain auto-add (anyone with your company email domain joins automatically) | A team admin, after turning auto-add off |
Admin invitation or a shared invite link | A team admin |
Directory provisioning from your company's identity provider | Your IT team, through the identity provider, or Wispr support |
You requested to join and an admin approved it | A team admin |
How to leave a team or enterprise
Ask your admin to remove you
Ask the admin to turn off domain auto-add first if your organization uses it. Otherwise you are added back at your next sign-in.
Ask them to remove you: in the Admin Portal they open Users, click your name, then choose Remove member from the ⋯ More actions menu.
Reopen Flow and go to Settings → Team. The organization no longer appears, and you can buy an individual plan right away. If the old organization still shows, use the refresh button on the Team page.
If your organization uses directory provisioning
With directory sync active, user management is owned by your identity provider and admin controls in the Admin Portal may be limited or unavailable.
Ask your IT team to deprovision your Wispr Flow access in the identity provider.
Contact Wispr support if IT cannot make that change. Support can remove a member even when directory sync blocks admin-initiated removal.
Deprovisioning ends your membership but does not delete your account or block you from rejoining later.
Note: After an admin removes you, you cannot rejoin on your own — the Rejoin button and invite links stop working, and you see "You were previously removed from this enterprise. Contact your enterprise admin to be re-invited." Only a fresh admin invitation undoes it.
What happens to your personal Flow Pro
On joining: your individual subscription is closed and your access comes from the team plan. Contact support about any billing adjustment you are owed.
If the team had no billing set up when you joined: as an existing Pro subscriber you may have become the team's payer. Check Settings → Plans and Billing, and contact support if your card is funding a team you don't want to pay for.
On leaving: your old subscription does not return. Buy a new individual plan from Settings → Plans and Billing. If you have already used a team trial and are not currently subscribed, the Team page's only action is Upgrade to Pro, which opens Plans and Billing.
Until you resubscribe: your account drops to Flow Basic — 2,000 words/week soft cap and 5,000 words/week hard cap on desktop, 1,000 and 1,500 words/week on iOS and Android. On Android the paid plan pill disappears and the weekly usage card and upgrade prompts return. Your dictionary, snippets, notes, and settings stay on your account.
Important: Do not buy a second subscription while still on the team plan, and do not create a new account to get around team membership. Get removed first, then subscribe.
Settings that can stop you from leaving
Only your admin or IT team can change these.
Domain auto-add is enabled
With "Auto-add all future @domain users" on, anyone signing in with a matching company email domain joins the team and adds a seat, so a removal has to be paired with turning the setting off.
This option is set when the team is created and cannot be changed from the desktop app. Ask an admin to disable it in the Admin Portal, or contact support.
SSO is enforced org-wide
Every sign-in for your domain must go through your company's identity provider. Email and password, Google, Apple, and Microsoft sign-ins are rejected, and new email-and-password signups on that domain are blocked.
An account on your work email cannot operate independently of the organization while enforcement is on. For a personal subscription your employer does not control, use a personal email address — that is a separate account, and no data carries over.
Your domain is verified and linked to the organization
A verified company domain is claimed by that organization, so you cannot create your own team on the same domain. Domain linking and removal are handled by Wispr support at the organization's request.
You can still hold an individual subscription on a verified domain once you are removed and auto-add is off.
Your organization uses an IP allowlist
If your organization restricts access to approved networks, Wispr Flow signs you out on any request from an outside network and shows a block page naming your organization. Access restores automatically once you are back on an allowed network. This is currently desktop-only.
Organization-enforced data and privacy controls
While you are a member, your organization can enforce zero data retention (and lock it so you cannot turn it off), set a retention policy that auto-deletes transcripts, hide the "Improve model" option, disable data sharing, and block cloud sync. These controls return to you after you leave.
FAQs
Can I leave a team myself from the app?
No. Membership ends when an admin removes you, your identity provider deprovisions you, your trial ends on an unbilled team, the team is disbanded, or Wispr support removes you on request.
I keep getting re-added after being removed. Why?
Domain auto-add or directory provisioning is still on, so you rejoin at your next sign-in. Turn off auto-add or deprovision in the identity provider before the removal is repeated.
Will I lose my dictionary, snippets, and notes if I leave?
No — they belong to your account, though team dictionary entries and team snippets stop being available. Transcript history is stored locally per device and does not sync; on Android, signing out deletes all transcripts on that device.
What if my request to join (or rejoin) is declined?
A declined join request has no retry option; only a fresh admin invitation can undo it. A failed rejoin shows "rejoin unavailable" (server declined) or "rejoin failed" (network error).
Am I being billed twice while I'm on a team?
You should not be — your seat is billed to the team. If you see both an individual charge and a team seat, contact support with your account email and we will correct the overlap.
Can I just change my account to a personal email instead?
Account email addresses cannot be changed. A different address means a new, empty account — transcripts, dictionary, snippets, notes, and referral history do not transfer. Cancel any subscription on the old account first.
Limitations and notes
There is no self-serve way to leave a team or enterprise on any platform.
Members removed by an admin cannot rejoin without a new invitation; members removed automatically, such as at trial expiry, can rejoin normally.
Domain auto-add is fixed at team creation and cannot be changed from the desktop app.
When directory provisioning is active, user management is owned by your identity provider and admin controls in the Admin Portal may be limited or unavailable.
Account email addresses cannot be changed after signup.
