Captcha issues blocking login, downloads, or subscriptions

Last updated: September 20, 2026

Available on: Mac, Windows, iOS. Android sign-up and authentication don't include a captcha challenge.

Seeing “Captcha error. Please try again.”, a challenge that won't load, or a completed captcha blocking your account action? Captcha prevents spam and automated abuse during account creation, password resets, and verification-email requests.

Quick checks

  • Repeated attempts: Limits expire automatically: allow up to 30 minutes for resets/resends, an hour for repeated sign-ups, or one minute for network limits. Shared networks/VPNs reach limits sooner; switching networks doesn't clear email limits. The web page says “Too many attempts — please try again later.”

  • Outages: Temporary verification/service outages require waiting, not immediate retries or password changes.

  • Browser test: Try your action at wisprflow.ai. Failure there isn't confined to the desktop app.

After each change below, retry your action. If it completes, stop; otherwise continue.

Mac and Windows

Flow opens your default browser. Sign-up uses visible captcha; password sign-in, resends and forgot password show a challenge only if automated activity is suspected. Every attempt resets captcha; failures prevent account creation or email sending.

  1. Disable script-blocking extensions.

  2. Try a different browser.

  3. Clear cache and cookies for wisprflow.ai.

If browser checks don't help

Restart and update Flow:

  1. Quit Flow — click the Flow icon in the menu bar, then click Quit Flow. (Mac)

Close Flow — right-click the Flow icon in the system tray and select Exit. (Windows)

  2. Reopen Flow.

  3. Update to the latest version when prompted.

If you're not prompted, follow How to update to the latest version.

Web captcha and resend messages

“Please complete the captcha.” or “Captcha expired. Please complete it again.” requires a fresh challenge. For “We couldn’t verify you’re human. Please try again.”, retry without reloading.

Other resend/reset-email errors need not be captcha failures. Successful resends disable “Verification email sent” for 30 seconds. If already verified, enter your password instead of resending.

Note: Finish browser sign-in within 5 minutes; afterward click Sign in again. Emailed sign-in links can complete the attempt for 15 minutes total, even after reopening Flow. If the browser never opens, click Sign in again; dropped connections retry automatically within the 5-minute window.

iOS

Captcha starts automatically on sign-up, forgot-password and resend-verification screens, disappearing after completion. There's no captcha on email entry, password sign-in, Google, Apple, Microsoft or SSO.

Create account, Send reset email and Resend verification email stay disabled until completion; creating an account also needs email, password and full name. Sign In on the resend screen stays enabled.

  1. Open the App Store and tap your profile icon in the top right.

  2. Update Wispr Flow if available.

  3. Reopen Flow.

Verification unavailable before email entry

“Verification service unavailable. Please try again later.” and “Please try a different sign-in method.” replace the email/password screen.

  1. Tap Go Back.

  2. Choose your account's Google or Apple sign-in; More Options reveals Microsoft, SSO and Email.

Challenge errors

Errors below the fields include “Verification challenge failed” (challenge), “Network error during verification” (connection), “Verification cancelled” (closed or timed out; button stays disabled), and “Unable to initialize verification” (couldn't start).

“Verification failed. Please try again.” covers missing completion or other failures; an incomplete captcha prevents submission.

Switching between sign-up, resend-verification and reset-password—including Forgot password—resets captcha. Retry the challenge. After account creation, verifying your email signs you in automatically unless you leave the screen.

Android

Android sign-in routing and SSO availability haven't been confirmed for the current app. For login or sign-up issues on Android, contact support — the issue is unrelated to captcha.

Account requirements

Web sign-up requires a two-character full name and an eight-character password minimum; web password sign-in also requires eight. The iOS password minimum is six.

Only digits before @

These addresses are rejected at account creation and captcha-required password resets. “Invalid email address.” reflects Flow's spam restriction, not an invalid address format.

This affects every sign-up path, including Continue with Google, Apple, and Microsoft: the provider signs you in, account creation rejects the address, and you're returned to the sign-in page with either "Invalid email address" or "Authentication failed," depending on the browser. Another browser, cleared cookies, or a private window won't change the outcome.

Important: Use an address with at least one letter before the @. Choose carefully: the email address and sign-in method on an account can't be changed later.

Aliases containing +

New email/password accounts reject “+” aliases before password/captcha on the web page. Existing aliases work in standard sign-in; Google, Apple, Microsoft, SSO and directory-managed accounts are exempt. Organization routing precedes the alias check.

Enterprise web password sign-in also rejects existing aliases; SSO is unaffected.

Organization requirements

SSO sign-in is available on Mac, Windows, and iOS. On Mac and Windows complete SSO in the browser window Flow opens.

  1. Choose More Options → Continue with SSO (iOS).

  2. Enter your work email.

  3. Select Continue.

Unmatched domains or incomplete organization SSO setup show an error page. Enforced SSO redirects email/password users and can block other account-creation methods; enforcement stops if enterprise billing lapses. Directory-managed accounts require IT to set up access before SSO.

Password-reset links

Reset and emailed sign-in links expire 15 minutes after the email is sent.

Errors include “This reset link is invalid or has expired. Please request a new one.” and “The password reset link has expired. Please request a new one.” Other messages report invalid links or access denied; you can't choose the reset method.

Important: Resetting your password signs you out on all devices. A reset error can occur after the password has already changed.

  1. Return to the forgot-password screen.

  2. Request a new email.

  3. Submit the new reset form promptly.

If it fails, try another browser or clear wisprflow.ai cache/cookies, then retry. After success, sign in again. A successful reset-email request doesn't guarantee delivery.

Still stuck?

Contact support if captcha still fails after these checks, completes without the action, or sign-in fails after a team invite. Include your platform (Mac, Windows, or iOS), device, action, exact message, screenshot, steps tried, and invite link if relevant.
